Glad all over
Review of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome - Frankie Goes To Hollywood by dave27

Advantages: The sound of metal being thwacked
Disadvantages: Some naff stuff

If you took a stroll round the seaside resorts of Britain or indeed any city centre during the 1983-84 period, particularly on a warm summer’s day, and you would inevitably come across (oo-err, missus!) a multitude of white T shirts all proclaiming the legend (in foot high letters) “Frankie Says…” There were many different things that Frankie said in that particular period but it was always the same impression you got. A new movement had started ... Read review

Frankie say - it's OK
Review of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome - Frankie Goes To Hollywood by rsmith

Advantages: 3 or 4 classic songs
Disadvantages: Too many songs that are filler, or now sound dated

1984 turned out to be the year, not of George Orwell, but of… Frankie. You couldn’t avoid all the “Frankie say…” T-shirts. The single “Relax”, banned by the BBC, started it all, shooting to Number 1 in the Charts, staying there for 5 weeks, and it remained in the charts until 48 weeks later. Apart from the hype and the publicity, the song itself is a great piece of explosive music, produced and transformed ... Read review

Relax?? get famous
Review of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome - Frankie Goes To Hollywood by alleykatz

Advantages: classic 80's
Disadvantages: none i can think of

...also released as a track welcome to the pleasure dome, more sedate than the other dancey tracks. The power of love was a timeless ballad, now rereleased and remixed into a dance track of summer 2000. Frankie may have split up, and were a bit of an over night success, and a short term success but they will never be forgotten... this album is one of the best of the era. ... Read review

Welcome!
Review of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome - Frankie Goes To Hollywood by bagoproverbial

Advantages: Truly classic 80s pop
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too adventurous in places? Otherwise none

When I was a kid, like may other kids I detested the clutch of smarmy, self-satisfied radio 1 DJs that ruled the airwaves back then- so gratifyingly lampooned by Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. Mike Read was one such smarm, and bizarrely Frankie Goes to Hollywood fans such as I have something to thank this man for- helping to bring this band not only to their attention but to the attnetion of the masses. By the end of 1984 Frankie Goes to Hollywood ... Read review

Advantages: classic 80s double album with some brilliant songs
