1984 turned out to be the year, not of George Orwell, but of… Frankie. You couldn’t avoid all the “Frankie say…” T-shirts. The single “Relax”, banned by the BBC, started it all, shooting to Number 1 in the Charts, staying there for 5 weeks, and it remained in the charts until 48 weeks later. ...also released as a track welcome to the pleasure dome, more sedate than the other dancey tracks. The power of love was a timeless ballad, now rereleased and remixed into a dance track of summer 2000. Frankie may have split up, and were a bit of an over night success, and a short term success but they will never be forgotten... this album is one of the best of the era. ... Read review

When I was a kid, like may other kids I detested the clutch of smarmy, self-satisfied radio 1 DJs that ruled the airwaves back then- so gratifyingly lampooned by Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse.
