These Guys Aren't So Chilly Review ofWhatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not [Digipak] - Arctic Monkeysby
ChemicalRomance
Advantages: The novelty and truth of the lyrics Disadvantages: Just one weak track that bores me..!
The Arctic Monkeys seem to have captured the hearts of the country (or at least some of it.) The Sheffield lads provided one of the most played songs of 2006 and one of the finest British albums of the past few years in my opinion. One of the funniest things about this album is the story behind the artwork. A friend of the band apparently offered his services, so with some cash he took to the pub and returned a little drunker than before and had his ...

Hey, Hey, It's the Monkeys Review ofWhatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not [Digipak] - Arctic Monkeysby
RazzaLazza
Advantages: The music is quite fun to listen to, great to dance along to. Disadvantages: A couple of filler tracks included here, very dodgy lyrics in parts.
'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' is the super successful debut album from the Sheffield based indie band that is the Arctic Monkeys. The album sold over 360 000 copies in its first week of going on sale, it was the fastest selling debut album in the UK since Oasis 'Definitely Maybe' effort in 1994; an incredibly fine achievement for the four lads from Sheffield. Is it actually any good an album though? Well, it's not quite so magnificent ...

Advantages: Refreshing change to drab contempories Disadvantages: Over-hyped
What's depressing about this album is that, although they are the most original of the long line of 'next-big-things', there is nothing to suggest that my children will be asking me to dig this album out of my CD collection when i'm 50. Like the rest of the music scene at the minute, the Arctic Monkeys are a here-and-now band without the credentials to stand the test of time. At least we hope not... For this band to stand the test of time, times would ...

Advantages: An album that justifys that price you pay, amazing vocals, strong lyrics, epic sound Disadvantages: NONE
One of the Greatest Albums of modern times. An album with no fillers, no dreariness, no emptiness. A unique case in which reality meets the hype and the sound of a generation is captured. Alex Turner (Front Man) presents Lyrics that are rebellious although present a raw portrayal of modern truth. Anxious guitars with racing drums creates a sound of vigorous roar adding to the intensity and momentum that gathers through every passing track. I put it ...

Advantages: Great to relate to, an instant piece of musical history Disadvantages: The songs sound quite samey.
Britain's latest lyrical genius, Alex Turner really steals the album with his unique style of song writing. Featuring a great deal of wit, annecdotial observation and social commentaries so effectivley crafted it would make Paul Weller proud. So when you think this is a debut album, you won't be suprised that this is instantly compared to the sheer quality and musical force of Oasis' Definatly Maybe. Trebley guitar riffs are perfectly complimented ...

This is that good Review ofWhatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not [Digipak] - Arctic Monkeysby
tomking1
Advantages: Each track is original and all are well written Disadvantages: Perhaps some collaborations would have been good
The arctic monkeys album, "whatever people say i am, thats exactly what im not" is from a band which recently picked up the mercury prize for the best new album. just to listen to a few of the tracks on the album show you exactly why the three members of the arctic monkeys picked up this award. From the very first song, the view from the afternoon, you get a clear view of why this band has been hallowed as "the next best thing after the beetles". ...
