...the music or on their wish to interest themselves in music and listen to it, in my opinion. At base of it all, it runs on dreams. And that's faulty reasoning. Many people believe in it, but i don't. That's not why i got into it at all. But i still haven't explained the song of the machine. It's a question of what causes a feeling of absence. "Wish You Were Here" is a song about the sensations that accompany the state of not being there. To work and ... ...try ..."
4. Wish You Were Here (Waters / Gilmour), 5:40 min.
One of the undoubted highlights of the album is Wish You Were Here. The song itself feels spontaneous and unplanned. It doesn't seem to fit thematically with the rest of the album and it comes as no surprise to learn that the song was arrived at by happy accident.
This simple easy going track began from Gilmour's country bluegrass motif and was worked up to something truly spectacular. ...

Advantages: Five inspired pieces of creative studio work Disadvantages: Born out of a great loss of personal input from a departed leader
In the midst of the psychedelic sixties, a band emerged from the haze of the darkest London suburbs called The Abdabs. In 1965, three ordinary guys named Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright were the basis of this new band and it was only when they requested the poetic genius of Syd Barrett that they thought that the name Pink Floyd had more going for it. At least it meant some would take their music seriously…
It was Barrett who supplied ... ...for the bizarre, 'out of this world' lyrics. He became the leader, guiding his newfound flock into depths of creation and shrouded, unspoken imagination. Richard Wright graced our ears and took us to distant plains of the mind with his keyboards. Nick Mason was the man behind the beautifully timed drums and percussion and Roger Waters was responsible for bass, more percussion and vocals.
It wasn't long before they were a resident musical interlude ...

Advantages: Beutiful pure love, heart and soul was put into this album, hope you like it Syd! Disadvantages: the odd ear aching Gilmour guitar solo in inapropriate places ,otherwise flawless
...including animals and of course wish you were here which followed the success of DSOTM.Maybe after the huge success the band felt guilt and regret but when they decided to dedicate an album to the wonderful magical Syd Barrett this absolutely beutiful work of art was unexpected.Pure love, heart and soul was put into this album not the search for popularity and sales ,this is what makes this album so unique to the musical world nothing but love was ... ...wish you were here is a stunning work of art that belongs in a museum. The sound effects mixed with stunning bass melodies mixed with pouring guitar strums brings you up and up into heaven. The experimental voice of Waters ever so slightly higher yet soothingly deeper has such a divine feel it's simply psychadelic wizerdry.
The album contains a brilliantly stunning cover, sob just the cover alone makes you want to weep for Syd,the albums booklet contains ...

Advantages: Distinctive sound, incredible guitar/keyboard album. Disadvantages: A bit samey, and weak in the middle.
There's not a great deal I could say about Pink Floyd's 1975 album that hasn't already been said. But obviously, you know, I'll try and stuff. (This is why I normally write about bands like Subterranean Masquerade, whom you've never heard of).
The sequel to the phenomenally popular 'Dark Side of the Moon' was always going to be a huge seller based on legacy alone, which is a shame as this inevitably led to the band adopting a more radio-friendly ... ...musical (and, I suppose, substance) experimentation produced such inspired 20-minute classics as 'Echoes' and such ridiculous 20-minute embarrassments as 'Atom Heart Mother' in equal measure, were now making albums targeted at the mass international audience they had snared. The band's early discography is packed with incredible highs and lows, and though much of it is inherently rubbish, the audacity alone makes it enjoyable. Now a sensation thanks ...
