Advantages: Some great tracks Disadvantages: Dreary packaging-- be best if you download the album!
...original, but the way he does it definitely is) and on another he bemoans the priveleged, American middle classes who wallow in their own complacence.
He also gives us a couple of stonking anthems in the process of the record. "Oxygen" and "Still A Fly" are beautiful. There are a couple of songs which don't quite click- the opener, for example, doesn't quite work, but the album's highlights far outweight this.
Please don't be put off the album by the recent speight of bland singer songwriters, such as James Blunt. Willy Mason's sound is pretty incomparable in modern musical terms, but this is what makes his so lovable. If you go to his official website you can see this too; his tastes and sense of humour are a bizarre mix of avant-garde and school-boy like.
Time will tell whether Willy Mason is as good as Mr Dylan. But one might note...

Advantages: An eclectic mix by a new, undiscovered talent Disadvantages: Only five tracks, on import only.
...in and the no frills design. Each track is accompanied by a short explanation of where, when and how it was written.
“Live It Up” has an echoing quality that sounds like it has been recorded in Mason's garage. There are no effects, no drums just Mason and his acoustic guitar. A bittersweet tale warning of the perils of "Living It Up" and striving for the pot of gold. Mason talks of remembering were we come from and the important things in life. It says something about this artist that he first performed this track in a war torn Lithuania for his friend. Mason's voice is full of emotion throughout and it is obvious his experiences are reflected in this track.
"Live it up
We better turn this boat around
If we keep on following the gold
Someday we are gonna run aground"
"Hard Hand To Hold” in comparison allows Mason to change his rhetoric...

Advantages: Great Well Written Album Disadvantages: Perhaps Not For The Dire Thrash Fan
...Metallica are one of the most successful metal bands of all time, and it's mostly thanks to this album, which is actually in the Guinness book of records for the highest selling album of all time, eclipsing Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Metallica are:
James Hetfield - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar and some Lead Guitar
Lars Ulrich - Drums
Kirk Hammett - Lead Guitar and some Rhythm Guitar
Jason Newsted - Bass Guitar
Here's a rundown of the tracks:
1. Enter Sandman
Perhaps the most successful song from the album. Right from the progressive subtle guitar riff leading into the heavy riff, through to some great rhythm and lead over the top. Great solo, to round off the lead guitaring. Lyrics are suggestive and extremely well written. Great opening track.
2. Sad But True
Perhaps the single most 'metal' song on the album. Great opening riff...
