Advantages: cute, bought fairly cheap, kids love it, sturdy

It is my point of view that the mamas & papas rock and ride horse - Gulliver is an adorable creature that will be loved by all infants, it does however have its drawbacks. After purchasing this adorable little horse for my little sister I was devastated to hear her heartbroken sobs down the phone less than 8 hours later. Poor old Gulliver was now earless! However after my mothers caring veterinary skills with a needle and thread Gulliver has since been made a much loved and greatly played with asset to my little sisters bedroom. However I do advise parents to supervise very young children with this item as there is the risk of falling off it (although it is very sturdy) and also parts tend to like falling off! Review of Mamas & Papas Rock & Ride Horse - Gulliver

Horses, horses, everywhere....

Advantages: Great hobby, keeps you fit
Disadvantages: Can be a bit dangerous, expensive if you stick to lessons, expensive hobby

If you've yet to have a go at this sport then my main piece of advice is as follows.... GO THIS WEEKEND! ~ History ~ Yawn. Sorry, just remembered the 'good old days' of history lessons learning about that trojan horse! With my and my love of horses, it all started back in Year 7. My first year in "big school". Up until then none of my friends had been at all interested in horses. How lucky I was to find 3 people in my form class who wanted to start horse riding. I owe it all to them! I guess I could have started when I was 3 and gone on my own, but that's never as much fun! So we all packed off to a local place with horses. (NB. note the fact I refrain from using "riding school" to describe this place!) This place was more like a farm yard. You paid your £5, you then got plonked on any horse they had going ...

Advice for Horse Riders (especially parents!)

Advantages: Healthy, rewarding sport with many possibilities
Disadvantages: Possible cost

Horse riding is a sport which, when you mention it to people, they either "did it once and would never do it again" or ¨love it¨. Having been riding now for over 30 years and teaching for over 20, I feel that it is very important that people are aware of the importance of starting out correctly, not only for their enjoyments sake, but also for their safety. The ´"did it once" people have probably not be supplied with enough good advice for them to discover that horse riding is a fantastic sport. You never stop learning, every horse is different and you can learn for the simple pleasure of enjoying the countryside or get more experienced in a variety of equine disciplines.
