Advantages: American Muscle cars racing around Disadvantages: Not a great script
Cannonball, also known as 'Carquake' is a cult 70's all american race movie.
The story revolves around the main character 'Buckman' (Carradine), who is using this cross country road race as a gateway into an official racing team. He is joined in the car by his girlfriend who is also a policewoman, and who obviously doesnt want him to partake in this illegal race.
His main rival in the race is a drunken mad man called 'Red', who is also trying to make the official team and will do anything he can to win the race, including shooting at him and trying to destroy his car.

Advantages: very funny, great punchlines Disadvantages: story hard to follow
I watched Cannonball Run on DVD, I loved the all-star cast, this was a hilarious movie, and I really loved the car races, The movie theme is nice women and even faster cars, Cannonball Run is based around the 80's, you can tell by the way the cast is dressed and some of the classic cars which are used,
I found the storyline a bit dull, and thought that more could have been done to create excitement and a need for speed, there was a large cast used this may have been done for the sake of them being famous, most of the cast featured well and in my opinion did well to act.
I enjoyed this movie and it is a great movie to watch with all the family, this movie is good value for money ...
Advantages: Funny script, Captain Chaos, Sammy Davis Jnr and Dean Martin. Disadvantages: Not as car focussed as might be expected, extremely basic plot.
Believe it or not, there was a time when Burt Reynolds made good movies. Towards the end of the 70s and into the early 80s, Reynolds made quite a few movies that featured the recurring themes of girls and cars, accompanied by speed and pursuing policemen.
Perhaps the most famous of these was "Smokey and the Bandit", but I prefer 1981's "Cannonball Run" simply because it's a lot more fun.
Speed Cop: "Headquarters, we are still in pursuit of the black Lamborghini."
Dispatcher: "Car 42, you've been in pursuit for two hours. Another five minutes and you'll be in Arizona."
Speed Cop: "Yeah, and we're going to stay in pursuit until we catch them."
Dispatcher: "It didn't take us THAT long to catch Dillinger."
