Advantages: A delicious blend of.... everything! Disadvantages: Extremely unhealthy.
Ok, as a self confessed "pig", I am always more than eager to review products that involve me eating them, this next product was my last tub of "research!".
The product I will now review is "Asda's extra special rocky road ice-cream".
The tub the ice-cream comes in is a 1 litre plastic tub with the colour scheme being beiges and taupe's, ok sounds boring doesn't it, it in fact gives a very stylish effect to the product and as this is part of the "extra special" range I assume that is the desired effect.
Down the side is the extra special logo, and across the top is the name of the product with a brief description of the ice-cream.
This tub, as with most of the other flavours in this range comes with a lift off plastic lid, the bonus with this is the fact it is resealable, this is not something I usually have to worry about, as ...
Advantages: A beautifully shot and visually strong film with Tom Hanks playing against type Disadvantages: A story whose threads are too neatly tied
In 1999 a British theatre director made his first feature film, a relatively low key film which managed to scoop a large number of awards and took both critics and audiences by storm. The film was 'American Beauty' and the director was Sam Mendes.
'Roadto Perdition' is Mendes follow up feature, and although it doesn't quite equal 'American Beauty', it is a magnificent film which shows that Mendes has as much to give film as he has already given theatre. What 'Roadto Perdition' gives us is a film that is beautifully crafted, stylishly presented and showcases excellent performances across the board. The one difference between this and Mendes' former film is that the film contains an epic quality which leaves you feeling slightly detached from the proceedings and has none of the dry wit and surreal episodes that made 'American ...
Advantages: Looks fantastic, acting is great, interesting story Disadvantages: Slightly predictable towards the end
For such a famous director, Sam Mendes has made very few films. Only two in fact; the multi-Oscar winning American Beauty and this 2002 follow-up, RoadTo Perdition. Although follow-up isn't really the right term, as this is completely different. I was surprised to find that this did not win any major Oscars, although it was nominated for about six, because it really is a brilliant film. I was also surprised that for such a great film, it was not advertised very well; I didn't really know anything about this film before I saw it, and I bet lots of people don't know about it at all, which is a shame.
The story tells of a hit man for the Irish mafia, Mike Sullivan (played by Tom Hanks). He and his two sons have a close relationship with the godfather John Rooney (played by Paul Newman). Sullivan keeps his job a secret from his ...
