Advantages: Very moving DVD, nice voice, powerful lyrics Disadvantages: Not much variety in musical style
Add to the Beauty is the sixth album by the American Christian musician Sara Groves. Unusually, the version I have of the CD is actually a double-sided disc, with the 13-track album on one side, with a 25-minute DVD on the other side.
ABOUT SARA GROVES
Sara Groves comes from Minnesota and has produced six albums, starting with Past the Wishing in 1998. I first heard of her when she was a guest on Michael Card's weekly radio programme, In the Studio, ... ...so that they have to add a trailer on the back. You then see the bus stopped on the side of the motorway after a tyre blow-out, which is the result of being too heavily loaded with all the donated supplies. They are helped by John Daly (the Open golf winner in 1995) who arranges a trailer, who refuses to charge them for the help. Advantages: Thumpingly good tunes Disadvantages: The album finishes
...Thier album World Service is a harmonious mix of deep bassy riffs and melodic tunes which stay with you after listening. If you've never seen these guys play live I sugest that you change that! However in the mean time World Service is the next best thing. The album grabs you from the off and doesnt let you go again till its done its work. Comprised of hauntingly beautiful songs my favourites being "Grace like a river" "Rain Down" "Majesty" and "Insideout" ... ..."paint the town red" was released as a single. This song has an amazing impact. While listening to the song for the first time I found myself brought to tears wanting to see lives changed. I'm not trying to preach but this is an amazing album which I would deffinately recommend to both hardened Derlirious fans and anyone interested in something different from the hum drum of the charts. Alternative fantastic tunes ...
Advantages: Packed full of feel good songs! Disadvantages: Could get repetative!
...Not Alone
16. After
1. Before - A mini compilation of song outtakes merging together. Only lasts a few seconds, but I find nicely sets the pace as to what's to come…..
2. Play It Loud (featuring The Halo Friendlies.) - Not the best song on the album by far. However, a quick bouncy song.
3. Well Adjusted - One of my favourites to sing along too, somewhat a teen angst song with a feel good factor, good to let out some aggression out to. 4. It's ... ...summer song, a nice tune and sound throughout.
5. Brokenhearted (featuring Kris Roe from The Ataris.) - Punchy intro, thrown full throttle into the feel of the song. As the title of this particular song, it's about being brokenhearted, but not a soppy tune, more of something to chuckle at - "I'm not crying, I got something in my eye.."
6. First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life - A good song to bop about too.
7. Everything Sucks When You're Gone - ...
Of Whales and Woe is Les Claypool's first proper solo album. His name may not be familiar to all as he is better known as Primus' frontman bassist extraordinaire. This album was released back in 2006 on his own record label Prawn Song. (It was recently re-released on vinyl as of November 2009.) Not so much of the wacky lyrics on this album but a far more accessable feel than his previous works. Nearly every track featured here is bass-driven in his ... ...check this out! The arrangements of the other instruments like saxophone sitar, guitar and drums, etc sit really well together without drowning anything out. The songs themselves are really catchy and you'll find yourself singing along too by the end of it. There is even one track on here, Iowan Girl, written specially for his wife with some of the most amazing bass playing I have ever heard. There isn't a bad track on here in my opinion.
