American Pie - Don McClean This album was originally released in 1971, this is the 1988 CD version, or at least the CD of the 1988 version (says 1988 on CD sleeve, though I do not remember CD's in 1988! Great compilation album

Advantages: Superb collection of their best songs.
Disadvantages: May not appeal to today's children.

Varied selection from the godfather of folk-rock

Advantages: Stunning melodies, stunning lyrics, stunning voice and stunning guitars.
Disadvantages: There's not enough of it!

A must for all you broken- hearted critters.

Advantages: Wicked guitar & vocals and paints a lot of different pictures of life and love.
Disadvantages: Romantic at times but could be taken as a pessimistic view of love.

This is an album, which I have played over and over again, over the last 30 years. No wonder it was such a hit, when it was released in 1976. It was music tailor made for long, hot summers! As a classic, best-selling album it has something for everyone, from the foot tapping, uptempo 'Take It Easy" - a track which is great when you are driving in your car - to the more melancholy, reflective tracks of "Desperado' and "Take It to the Limit".
