Advantages: Fantastic range of styles and great music all round Disadvantages: May not be to everyones taste although i'm sure most people will find at least one song they love
...who aren't sure who The Eagles are let me just explain. They are probably more well known for their hit single Hotel California which was released way back in 1976, way before my time I might add. They're an American group and can fill the biggest of stadiums like the best of them. I've not counted all their albums but i'd say there's around a dozen of them, they've been around decades and in that time become one of the biggest sellers out of the ... ...put a label on The Eagles as they fit into various music categories. At a push i'd probably sway more towards describing them as easy listening but let's face it that label totally sucks and makes everything sound boring.
I was brought up with music always around me and most of my tastes can be traced back to my Mum. I've always known The Eagles music for as long as I can remember, they were one of my Mums favourites (although I think her favourite ...
Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: When it finishes!
American Beauty, following on from Workingman's Dead marked a signigicant change in the music of the Grateful Dead. Famed for their live shows and long extended jams, the Dead moved away from their psychedelic influences and more towards the sound of Crosby, Stills and Nash. This is the Grateful Dead in mellow mood. This album is the best of the Dead's studio albums and features classic songs such as Ripple, Sugar Magnolia, Truckin' and Friend of ... ...the vocal harmonies of the band. If you're new to the Grateful Dead then this album is a great starting point together with Workingman's Dead. But it is not typical of their other work. If you, like this one you'll probably like their later acoustic album, Reckoning. So listen to this album a few times and you'll find the songs growing on you. One or two weaker ones but then how many albums are truly flawless? ...
Advantages: Wicked guitar & vocals and paints a lot of different pictures of life and love. Disadvantages: Romantic at times but could be taken as a pessimistic view of love.
This is an album, which I have played over and over again, over the last 30 years. No wonder it was such a hit, when it was released in 1976. It was music tailor made for long, hot summers!
As a classic, best-selling album it has something for everyone, from the foot tapping, uptempo 'Take It Easy" - a track which is great when you are driving in your car - to the more melancholy, reflective tracks of "Desperado' and "Take It to the Limit". All ... ...the Arizona Desert. I would describe it as a sort of modern day cowboy music where cadillacs replace horses and saddles! This album, however, is much more than cowboy music. It has love ballads in the form of "Best of My Love" and "Tequila Sunrise". There is a more cynical look at sex, love and relationships in 'Lyin" Eyes", the spellbinding, 'Red Indian' riffs of "Witchy Woman", and it treats us an almost Freudian glimpse at sexual desire in "One ...

...This is a greatest hits album from a band who I have up there as one of the master bands of Rock and Roll music. I am sure some of this bands songs have appeared on movies as soundtracks. In addition the main reason I bought this album is because they included the song you better you bet as track number 16 as well as the classic song 'who are you'.
Largely because of these two classic tracks I bought the album as I wanted to listen to other tracks ... ...songs all of which were greatest hits by the Who. I will try to describe and detail as best as I can on a track by track basis.

Track 1: I can't explain: This perhaps is an interesting song, as it starts off in a punchy and forceful way on the guitar as well as having nice to hear lyrics. The song provided me with a pleasant mood to hear other songs on the list. Overall I find this a really great track that really ...
Of Whales and Woe is Les Claypool's first proper solo album. His name may not be familiar to all as he is better known as Primus' frontman bassist extraordinaire. This album was released back in 2006 on his own record label Prawn Song. (It was recently re-released on vinyl as of November 2009.) Not so much of the wacky lyrics on this album but a far more accessable feel than his previous works. Nearly every track featured here is bass-driven in his ... ...check this out! The arrangements of the other instruments like saxophone sitar, guitar and drums, etc sit really well together without drowning anything out. The songs themselves are really catchy and you'll find yourself singing along too by the end of it. There is even one track on here, Iowan Girl, written specially for his wife with some of the most amazing bass playing I have ever heard. There isn't a bad track on here in my opinion.
