Titus Andronicus deliver an unpolished diamond of a debut
Advantages: Lo-Fi alternative at its rawest. Seriously brilliant lyrics, exquisite instrumentals/vocals.
Disadvantages: Nine songs seems abit short, can be difficult to access, songs sound similar to some.
Titus Andronicus first interested me due to an excellent suggestion from Last.fm. As a fan of Lo-Fi alternative, I'd never heard of them and expected a new wave experimental band with one of those exceptional names, Titus Andronicus being one Shakespeare's earlier works. When I first listened to 'Upon Viewing Brueghel's "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus" that Last.fm had suggested, I was very pleasantly suprised; tonnes of atmosphere, distorted ...
...also dawned on me what brilliant lyrics were to be found in the song, rather than telling a story it was dawning on dark conclusions and analogous lyrics can be apparent from just single line' So Father, if it's possible, let this cup pass me by, but if it can't without my drinking it, then thy will be done'.
