Advantages: All the benefits of the quadrophonic recording without the crackle Disadvantages: the vinal still sounds warmer
What can I add after that title? I have my original pressing first release vinal album which still sounds superb although getting a quadrophonic amp that still works is a bitch! This SACD presentation brings back much of the original feel and nearly the depth of the original which the cd lacked particuarily if used via naff kit. This is Floyd at their peak in my humble opinion and one of the defining albums of the twentieth century. If you don't ... ...th White Album this is the must buy album of all time. Ok you need a sacd player and a decent 5.1 amp to appreciate this album at its best having said that if you have the kit sit back and enjoy. It's hard to believe this album was recorded so long ago considering the multi level nature of the tracks that are so far ahead of their time. ...

Initially I got hold of a vinyl of this album and during the upgrade period it was the third album to be added to my CD collections and I’m very proud to own it.

Advantages: Another brilliant British prog rock album Disadvantages: none whatsoever
First released in 1971, Fireball was the follow up to "In Rock" and is seen as part two of a trilogy of classic British progressive rock albums from Deep Purple, sandwiched between 1970's In Rock and 1972's Machine Head. Thought for today: other than Zeppelin's IV, Houses Of The Holy and Physical Graffiti, has any other band ever come out with three great albums one after the other? I doubt it very much. Diamond Dogs brought to close the glam era for Bowie after this album there was nothing more to say that wouldn’t sound like self-parody or just asinine repetition.

The albums tone is set by the minute and seven second long spoken narrative called “Future Legend” which sounds particularly Burroughsian which reads like an off-cut from the Burroughs book “Naked Lunch” with a ... ...now, the year of the Diamond Dogs.
Bowie shouts “This ain’t Rock n’ Roll this is Genocide”.
Diamond Dogs (5.56) the title track plods along in a Stones-like manner and is the albums most unimaginative song, the album has for the first time and only time I can think of where Bowie plays most of the lead guitar.
His garage style of guitar playing is off-set by his soulfully played layered horn section and frantic keyboard ...
Advantages: Interesting and enjoyable snapshot of life and music in London, 1979. Disadvantages: Newcomers might enjoy it 10% less than old fans.
...Vain', which appears on the London Calling album. Train in Vain is an amazing funky, upbeat song, which shows an entirely different side to the band, and yet you can still tell it is a Clash song.
After hearing Train in Vain, I was considering buying the album, but was not entirely convinced I would enjoy a whole Clash album, and even less sure I would fork out £10 or so to find out. It is highly acclaimed, and in all the top 100 albums lists, but ... ...plus videos for 3 songs; London Calling, Train In Vain and Clampdown. The documentary is great, and it developed my interest in the album further, but probably won't withstand subsequent viewings. What is most incredible is the behaviour of the band's producer when recording this album. They had to calm him down to stop him throwing furniture around the studio and punching the walls of the sound booth before they could record a track! This DVD shows ...
