Advantages: Great Songs Throughout, That Stand Together As A Great Cohesive Piece Of Work Disadvantages: Not Quite As Accessible As Harvest
After The Gold Rush was the first Neil Young album released after his foray with Cosby, Stills, Nash and Young, enabling him to be shot into the limelight and the album to become of greater significance and prominence in the public eye. The album combined many of the elements of his CSNY work with some of his earlier pieces with Buffalo Springfield, with Crazy Horse backing Neil Young on many of the album’s songs. This mixture of harder, grittier ... ...Tell Me Why 2:54 2. After The Gold Rush 3:45 3. Only Love Can Break Your Heart 3:05 4. Southern Man 5:41 5. Till The Morning Comes 1:17 6. Advantages: Great Tracks Throughout With Some of The Best Lyrics Around Disadvantages: There's A World Slackens The Pace A Bit
...rock magazines around, gave for Harvest by Neil Young seems to me more self-indulgence than criticism. The rock critic who rated this review panned this album on far too many levels, when it is now, rightly, seen as a brilliant piece of rock history and now sitting as No.78 on the Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Albums, retribution if there was any. The album itself though was Neil Young’s fourth solo release, coming after his highly regarded ... ...On The Weekend 4:35 2. Harvest 3:03 3. A Man Needs A Maid 4:00 4. Heart Of Gold 3:05 5. Advantages: 8 Great different sounding tracks Disadvantages: Always leaves you wanting more & then you have to wait for her next masterpiece album.
...her earlier stuff on The Fame album. It reminds me of a summer track, listening to it whilst just chilling on the beach. It's not as catchy as the other songs but it does bring something different to this album.
8) Teeth - To be honest when i first listened to this song i thought 'What the Hell is she doing?!?' Its hard to describe this song. It reminds me of a song that would be performed in a cabaret bar and it really is an old-fashioned number. ... ...Dangerous album. He uses old school beats and strange sounding vocals to create a unique song for Lady GaGa. After a few listens to this song i found myself clicking my fingers and tapping my feet to the beat. I'm looking forward to seeing her perform this live when i go see her in concert in 2010.
The album booklet is a simple black 14 page booklet which includes the lyrics to all the songs. There is also 3 pictures of Lady Gaga in her typical ...
Advantages: Excellent, witty lyrics with a decent range of style. Jarvis is just too cool.. Disadvantages: No real 'big hitter' of a track that you'd find on a Pulp album if your a more general listener
...of the 90's. Further Complications is Jarvis' attempt towards a more indie Brit rock album which still oozes the class of a brilliant frontman. The title track is certainly a great opener, catchy and witty which pretty much sums up the rest of the Album. There are more soleful elements to the album too; Discosong and Hold Still, Hold Still especially as one of those typical 'I can barely hear him but it sounds so good' Cocker songs. It's probably become obvious that I mention nearly every song as 'Solid' but this is definately where this album comes in and it does not really contain a big chart hitting song. Then again, who ...
Advantages: Not 1 bad track Disadvantages: More tracks would make it more amazing
My boyfriend bought me this after 'Ignorance' had just been released, so I will admit I was expecting an album full of rocky songs almost screamed out.
I was very wrong! A diverse range of slow and thought provoking sounds mixed with a good dose of rock. Favourite tracks include the sublime 'Ignorance', 'The Only Exception' and the fabulous 'Decode' taken hauntingly from the hit film 'Twilight'.
I never got to hear theier earlier stuff, but if ...
