I bought this album in a sale in a music shop when I hardly knew anything about Spandau Ballet. However when I got home and put it on I was pleasantly surprised.
This album contains an outstanding mixture of all of Spandau Ballets greatest songs, such as 'Gold', 'True', 'Only When You Leave' and 'To Cut A Long Story Short'. They are compelling to listen to, and I was playing this album over and over again. This album is a true 80s classic, typically ...
Advantages: A singles collection on a CD Disadvantages: Booklet is in black & white and doesn`t contain song lyrics
...stuff & should appeal to all of their fans.
You can actually sit back and enjoy the various sounds, grunts & growls that are contained herein on this album.
This showcase of Fiend tracks finds them at their best, and only a couple of their albums are as raw and edgy as this one. It rates well alongside releases like The legendary Batcave tapes, Acid Bath, and Who`s been sleeping in my brain? These are great recordings, and well worth the money.
... ...what that have accomplished in all those years.
As far as the songs go on this release, I would have to say that as for zaniness, the song Drive my rocket has its funny lyrics.
For my very favorite, I am sticking to my guns for the song Ignore the machine.
The booklet is unfortunately done in black and white, lacks the lyrics and could of had a little bit of a biography about the band. ...
Advantages: Blissful songs - sheer class Disadvantages: None
...Bullet point one - Once Upon A Time - Greatest Hits from a band who shouldn't have had them, but did anyway - absolutely blistering records - they kept us dancing and made us think - never the easy kill, always the outsiders, but we welcomed them in - ever since every record company in London had 'Sign The Banshees' scrawled across their doors that fateful night.
Bullet point two - members - Siouxsie Sioux - vox - big hair - strident Germanic voice ... ...bass - heart and soul - pulsebeat man - Budgie - assault and battery skin man.
Cut up cover - so many images - unfeeling and cold - warm and emotional - a contradiction in terms.
Hong Kong Garden - shock! - Banshees go pop - oh no! - but wait - glorious, glorious anthem, S kicking on So It Goes, suddenly making sense - sheer bliss.
Harmful elements in the air symbols clashing everywhere Reaps the fields of rice and reeds while the population feeds ...
Advantages: 8 Great different sounding tracks Disadvantages: Always leaves you wanting more & then you have to wait for her next masterpiece album.
...her earlier stuff on The Fame album. It reminds me of a summer track, listening to it whilst just chilling on the beach. It's not as catchy as the other songs but it does bring something different to this album.
8) Teeth - To be honest when i first listened to this song i thought 'What the Hell is she doing?!?' Its hard to describe this song. It reminds me of a song that would be performed in a cabaret bar and it really is an old-fashioned number. ... ...Dangerous album. He uses old school beats and strange sounding vocals to create a unique song for Lady GaGa. After a few listens to this song i found myself clicking my fingers and tapping my feet to the beat. I'm looking forward to seeing her perform this live when i go see her in concert in 2010.
The album booklet is a simple black 14 page booklet which includes the lyrics to all the songs. There is also 3 pictures of Lady Gaga in her typical ...
Advantages: Excellent, witty lyrics with a decent range of style. Jarvis is just too cool.. Disadvantages: No real 'big hitter' of a track that you'd find on a Pulp album if your a more general listener
...of the 90's. Further Complications is Jarvis' attempt towards a more indie Brit rock album which still oozes the class of a brilliant frontman. The title track is certainly a great opener, catchy and witty which pretty much sums up the rest of the Album. 'Angela' is one of those songs that will get in your head until people end up asking you why the hell you keep saying Angela in a funny accent and who the hell she is! other examples of this raspy ... ...tracks; not the sort that will come on your iPod shuffle and you'll skip. There are more soleful elements to the album too; Discosong and Hold Still, Hold Still especially as one of those typical 'I can barely hear him but it sounds so good' Cocker songs. It's probably become obvious that I mention nearly every song as 'Solid' but this is definately where this album comes in and it does not really contain a big chart hitting song. Then again, who ...
