Depeche mode... Because?
Advantages: brilliant, entertaining Disadvantages: none
Well, i can say this brings music to my ears, a person jesus to me if you like, something most people would dislike nowadays, but for me, I love them, all over and all around, Depeche mode are a brilliant band for your entertainment and theyre fair in all aspects, unlike some bands, I think due to depeche mode being around a lot longer then some other bands, this is the gears to my ears, keeps me happy when i get down... I hope you all like this ...

An epic album from an epic band.
Advantages: Epic. Mostly a work of genius. Disadvantages: Makes me over-use the word "epic". Moments of odd un-epicness.
I'm continuing my poke through my record collection with another offering from Norwegian legends a-ha.
Scoundrel Days was a-ha's "difficult" second album. It was a move away from their "synth pop" reputation after Hunting High and Low, and was perhaps a bit of a shock for their teenage fans, but at ten years old I was too young to be disappointed. I loved it. I held long scarves in my hands and danced, with an abandon that can only be described ... ...album, and it's probably the reason why, by the time I was a teenager, I was into rock and metal. Luckily since then I've realised I'm a TERRIBLE dancer.
In a highly unscientific poll (a search through my memory to remember the opinions of fellow a-ha fans over the years) the vast majority of a-ha fans named SD as their favourite ever a-ha album. It's certainly the one I'd want on a desert island, and it's the "classic" a-ha album they play the ...

Get back to your youth!
Advantages: Good rocking songs, will take you back!! Disadvantages: none
A real flashback to the Eighties, rehearing this album! Synthesier rock at its very best. There are the instantly recognisable tracks "Take On Me", a bouncy number, completely impossible to dance to (I dare you to try!) currently on re-release by A1. The bizarrely titled" The Sun Always Shines On TV", well this one rocks! There is also a sweetie of a ditty called "And You Tell Me..", short but very catchy. The 'worst' tracks must be "Living A Boys ... ...which stretch the English translation to its limit!! All in all, a cracking album, with Morten's fabulous vocal abilities (far better than Simon Le Bon!), being well show cased. The new album "Minor Earth,Major Sky", shows how Aha have moved on and developed their sound, and lost the plinky-plonk of the Eighties!! ...

Too good for teen Pop
Advantages: Classy songwriting, the work of true craftsmen. Disadvantages: Known for its poppy hit singles that give a misleading idea of what to expect.
Stay On These Roads entered the UK charts at #2 in May 1988, Aha's third #2 album in as many releases. Significantly though, the second (Scoundrel Days) had spent considerably fewer weeks on the chart than the first (Hunting High And Low). This trend continued, as the third managed even less. There were further alarm bells ringing when the album's second single The Blood That Moves The Body stalled at #25. In fairness, it wasn't perhaps the most ... ...had hinted at this, then Stay On These Roads was the unequivocal proof. Touchy! and You Are The One - both catchy little ditties (and back-to-back Top 15 hits later in 1988) - were aberrations on a hugely impressive collection. The Living Daylights also made an appearance in remixed form, apparently in the style they preferred to perform it in a live situation. Yet it was on the other seven songs that the argument for Aha's enduring appeal and continued ...

Advantages: timeless Disadvantages: track 6
“ The Innocents “ - Erasure 1988 - Mute Records CDSTRUMM55
Fifteen years is a long time in the music industry , and it is said that the life of an average solo artist / group is mere eighteen months . So how does an album fifteen years old , from a group still going strong in their seventeenth year , stand up in today's world .
Released in 1988 , “The Innocents “ was Erasures third studio album and forth album release ( no I haven’t got my figures ... ...remixes and a few live songs compiled with a scattering of new recordings of ‘The Circus’ material ) .
Thirteen tracks are to found on this album , twelve of which are original material , the final track being a cover version ( oh yes Erasure were leading the way with covers all those years ago ! ) .
The album has an upbeat feel , partly joy partly sadness , even at times religious - the cover depicts a stained glass church window ( based on St. ...
