Advantages: Ten excellent tracks. Superb lyrics. Good booklet. Disadvantages: Not sure of the value of the two mini tracks.
This album is a superb follow up to the debut "Definitely Maybe". There are 12 tracks two of which, the untitled songs 6 and 11, are really subtracks which either link the songs either side or lead in to the following track. The running time is, give or take a second, 50 minutes exactly.
It contains four singles that all reached either number 1 or 2 in the UK singles charts and contains probably the band's best work alongside the aforementioned ... ...with a greater number of tracks on this album than on any of their other albums. I would say this album cemented Oasis' place as one of the very top acts of the era.
The booklet contains some interesting portrait photos and also the lyrics although they do not appear in track running order, except for the opening and closing tracks which do appear in the anticipated places.
"Hello" is a rousing opening track and a great song. Not sure I would expect ...
Advantages: Everything that the music industry needed. Disadvantages: none
This is it...forget everyone else, this is the album that made everyone stand up and take notice of actual songs again.. from the start this album grabs your attention and doesnt let go...a true classic!! The lyrics speak to a generation and united a country into loving great music again that was truely 'british' this was Oasis' time!! Although they went on to have more success with 'morning glory' this was the album that set the precident for them ... ...nation waiting for their releases, this was the album that made them the party band that the country wanted. I dont think a band has been as culturally viable as oasis since the beatles and in my opinion i dont think there will be another band that get to these heights as a band ever again. As i said before, this album is a true classic! ...
Advantages: Value for money, easy listening great lyrics, sexy band members! Disadvantages: couple of weak tracks but don't let that put you off
...still sounds like it could be re-released today and still be a hit. I love the pictures in the album cover, i have used them in frames for a wall display and they look brilliant! I can't fault this album, or any others of Oasis's masterpieces. "Stand By Me", "Fade In-Out" and "All Around The World" are classic Oasis anthems. I actually prefer definitely maybe as it seems to kick ass just that little bit more, but I love this album, especially played ...
Advantages: Great songs. CD booklet contains some good photographs. Disadvantages: None really - would have been nice to have the lyrics in the booklet.
It's hard to believe that Oasis released this, their debut album, 15 years ago now. What a fantastic debut it was as well. Some might say, no pun intended, that it is actually their best album to date. Very few artists have made the kind of impact Oasis made with their first album either before 1994 or since, you could argue Arctic Monkeys perhaps but you would be hard pushed to disagree otherwise. All four singles are top notch tracks and "Rock ... ...to have been released as singles as well. Looking back at the chart performance of the singles it must be said that although "Live Forever" reached UK Number 10 and "Cigarettes & Alcohol" reached number 7, if you hadn't checked these stats out and had been asked to guess how well they had done, you would have put them both down as top 3 hits. They are two of the earliest anthems from the mid-nineties Brit Pop era and are instantly familiar to anyone ...
Advantages: All rounder Disadvantages: Talking rather than singing
I have heard this song a million times and have never got tired off it. Its the kind of song to stay popular with the older people and the young. I think that it is one of the best blur has done. It reminds the older people of there child hood and reminds youngsters what they do all the time. Its a great song for all of the family and definatly worth its money.
I think the only reason why some people may not like it is because it more talking reaally ...
