Advantages: Some amazing songs Disadvantages: SOme weak songs
...one. Track 19: Colour and the Shape
Screeching describes this track to a T, it's not good, it's not pleasant to listen to and it's just a damn mess. My Opinion
Now that was a weird review I have to say, did I enjoy writing it? The answer is yes, it's nice to write about a band I feel quite passionate about I have to say, I will do a special section below on someone who I thought was one of the greatest singers and musicians in the world, ... ...alternative rock. The Colour and the Shape vs. Extra Tracks
I got the 10th Anniversary special with extra tracks of Amazon for just under £5 however if you want to get the one without the extra tracks like I would suggest you do, you are looking to pay about £2 more than the more recent release. I would however buy the album without the extra tracks on, I'm sure you can get it cheap off EBay because the extra tracks are just awful. Should ...
Advantages: Loud, bad and one of the last great albums of rock. Disadvantages: Commericalism was knocking on the door and the light of rebellion was starting to die out..
From the sun kissed beaches of Oz, the Scottish bums turned surfer dudes returned to London to explode into our brains with the sweaty smell of good old rock and roll. From one loud album after another, AC/DC has become, undoubtedly, the Gods of British rock.
Yet, after the death of wild vocalist Bon Scott in February 1980, there we many of us who thought that the end was nigh for the masters of rock. Acquiring the forty a day tones of Brain Johnson, ... ...new voice. With mop of fuzzy hair sprouting from under a flat cap, AC/DC found the image that they had, all this time represented - long haul truckers.
From the days of Bon Scot, they had developed a style which when fans were drawn in, they became fans for life, although by the time the mid Eighties rolled around, it was the sons and daughters of the original followers who found the 'school boy stage outfit' fitted like a glove. For anyone who ...
Advantages: Superb quality, huge song selection, pure bliss. Disadvantages: No Pink.
...and Falling in Love a little cold yet here they sound as alive and vibrant as the terrifically performed, and personal favourite, Same Old Song and Dance. The band never get stuck in a groove; after every ballad there's a song that rocks hard enough to knock your teeth out; check out the drumming on Living On The Edge. The musicianship is faultless: Perry's guitar work in Same Old Song; Brad Whitford's superb version of Last Child or Tyler's lone ... ...together to.
Then there's the little touches too, Tyler bizarrely crying out "Richey Edwards" before a guitar solo and then, as the second disc commences asking the audience "where were you in '78? Where the fuck were you in '79?" before turning to Perry who removed himself from the band in 78 and asking him the same thing to the crowds amusement before heading into the excellent Back In The Saddle. It all goes to give the impression that while ...
Advantages: Easy to relate to, amazing musicianship Disadvantages: somewhat darker than other bon jovi albums
I have always been a bon jovi fan and loved their music, but I must admit, this album was one of the last albums I added to my collection. The album, released in 1994 touches a more sinister and heart breaking note. Personal favourites include "this aint a love song", "these days", "something to believe in" and my guitar lies bleeding"......The whole album seems to focus around losing a loved one or breaking up with a loved one which makes it easy ... ...to the songs seem very down to earth and realistic, for example, "my guitar lies bleeding in my arms" opens with the lines "Misery likes company, I like the way that sounds". I am a musician and songwriter myself and think that writing personal messages that let you into the song writers head is a touch of genious. Richies guitar work is impeccable, ranging for warm mellow riffs to gut wrenching squeeling solos. Perhaps the thing that strikes me ...
Advantages: You will have the tunes in your head all day. Disadvantages: You will have the tunes in your head all day.
I bought this album on the back of the huge hit singles Barbie girl, but especially Doctor Jones.
It is something about the light hearted nature of the tunes that sticks in your head, long after you have finished listening to it. I know they are seen as a cartoon band or a kids band because of the first single (Barbie Girl) and this is perhaps slightly justified.
There is no moral message in any of their songs except to have fun really. Their obvious ...
