This is Green Days earliest collection of recordings. I particularly love this offering because it showcases the early works of green day this was release in 1991 and then re-released. This album has 19 songs to offer my favorite song of this album is disappearing boy this album is a treasure to all Green Day fans and all fans of the early punk pop era. I thoroughly enjoy this album and the nostalgia that comes with this. However this album may not ...
Advantages: still an amazing album Disadvantages: there is no richey and that left a lot for them to make up for
...certain spark. This is my truth tell me yours lacks that. it must have something about it i agree it did get them there first number one hit with "if you tolorate this..." but maybe the fact that this album stored their first number one says something. Its good i agree with that. though the only really good tracks of it are the ones you have heard as singles the rest of the album is medeocre pap really, but still better than most things that have ... ...I would say give this album a listen and it does have its high points that almost lead me to believe that the old manics are back just for a split second. SOme of you might prefer it if you like a more mellow and ( if i may say so)slightly dull sound to them. but over all i'd say give me my old manic street preachers anyday ...
Advantages: Raw and angry, yet gentle and heartfelt all in the right places. Disadvantages: Skin's voice will either win you over or send you packing.
...ultra confident. Stoosh was the second album, and the one that really cemented Skunk Anansie as one of the big British rock bands in the mid to late 90s. To this day, their music sounds fresh, exciting and revolutionary, and I think it's because while they were lumped in the same pen as certain other acts, they've never been quite like anyone else. Most of the band came from rough backgrounds in London, and the mix of cultural backgrounds meant that ... ...aspiration to sound like any other band. Yes, the political undertones and pure anger of some of their music would draw comparisons with Rage Against the Machine, but the political tone was the only real similarity.
To describe the Skunk Anansie sound, think heavy, heavy rock. And then add in the lead singer, Skin. Like it or not, it was Skin's voice that set this band apart from anyone before or since. She manages to be raspy and angry, whilst ...
Advantages: at last some decent riffs! Disadvantages: still not the same without richie
...bk to their roots with this (in my book) highley acclaimed album. nothing will compare to the albums made when richie was in the band, but this is their best effort to date. deep lyrics and a mixture of soothing melodies and rockin guitar solos, this is definately worth a listen by anyone thats heard of the welsh lads. # my little empire is a chilled out track (if a little sombre) made for chillin out to, whereas the more upbeat # black dog on my ...
Advantages: Every song is great and superb deluxe disc Disadvantages: Less experimental than earlier work
Sonic Youth's Goo was their major label debut yet, also, their sixth full length album and remains one of their most popular.
While most SY fans, including myself, will point to the majesty of Goo's predecessor Daydream Nation as their creative masterpiece, Goo is easily the band's most accessible album and a great starting point for any new listener. Following on from the band's earlier work, the songs on Goo were less experimental (argued by some ... ...each of the tracks on Goo stands alone with a feel different to the others: opener "Dirty Boots" has a dirty blues feel to its delivery while "Kool Thing" - supposedly aimed at LL Cool J - features a contribution (somewhat phoned-in) from Chuck D and the epic "Tunic (song for Karen)" is a masterpiece of it's own. "Tunic" opens in chaos before throwing in an immense driving rhythm to back up Kim Gordon's song for Karen Carpenter before disappearing ...
