Advantages: Good for new Rush fans who don't want to buy all albums Disadvantages: Mostly good tracks but a few poor ones.
Rush are classed as a ‘progressive’ rock band. Over the last 20 or so years they have produced dozens of albums; their music has progressed from simple heavy rock to a more mixed rock that mixes ballad, heavy rock and rock anthem. Rush are a three man band from Canada, although the sound they produce sounds as good if not better than many four or five bands.
Alex Lifeson is the lead guitarist, his mix of classical, six string lead and ... ...recognizable to most.
Geddy Lee the vocalist and bassist is the inspiration of Rush, his skills at writing unique and powerful introspective songs stamp out a style that is recognizable even in his own solo album.
Neil Peart is an exceptional drummer who is up there with the best. Unfortunately due to personal tragedies in his life, Rush haven’t produced music for several years, but rumors surface that there is a new album being produced.

Advantages: The amazing band..... Disadvantages: this band so hard...
In 1994 the band had been together for ten years! What an effort.. and boy does it show. This is probably my personal favourite album - slightly less commercial songs (mainly less catchy chorus's) and some fantastic solos, this album has lots of really moody and dark pieces. Warning! I actually owned this album for over a year without really getting into it! A high school friend of mine first lent me this album.. and I didn't enjoy it! The songs ... ...didn't grasp it. It took me about a year to realise that you have to listen to each song about three times (in a row) before you can get the hang of them. And then you will start cheering. "Caught in a Web" and "6:00" are my favourite tracks, with some great keyboard melodies. "Lie" is also another killer song with a great chorus. This was the first album to feature Petrucci doing a lot of 7 string guitar. (Wake up Korn - DT did it first and about ...
Advantages: Relaxing... Disadvantages: ...or boring (depending on your p.o.v.)
A very laid back instrumental album, beautifully played, but in an emotional vacuum.
The trouble with Mike Oldfield is that, although a brilliant instrumentalist, his music has become somewhat shallow, as his lap of luxury lifestyle has cushioned him from the slings and arrows of life. So whereas his early work had a real edge shaped by an unhappy childhood (his mother suffered from mental illness and became addicted to tranquilizers) and a stroppy ... ...long hair) his more recent CDs could easily be mistaken for elevator music.
This CD opens with the slightly nautical lilt of "The Song of the Sun" (reminiscent of Oldfield's "QE2") followed by "Celtic Rain" which although pleasant is like Test Card* music and not very Celtic... unlike "The Hero" which sounds uncannily like incidental music from the film "Titanic" (The album came out before the film, by the way, not that I am implying anything you ...
Advantages: Great quality live recording with classic tracks Disadvantages: that it finally finishes
A very good quality live album
Good vocals all the way from Phil Collins. Not to mention his drumming
Album 1 has the newer Genesis tracks that are better known. Such as Abacab, Follow you follow me and Turn it on again.
Album 2 starts of with Misunderstanding and is followed by five earlier tracks that all die hard Genersis fans will know and love.
This has an instramental track and you can feel you are at the gig with the sound of the crowd ... ...from this that Genesis are a bunch of great musicians.
For my money the best Genesis album they have ever made and the live feel adds to the quaility of the recording.
I would thoughly recommend this album to anyone.
I have had this album for years but needed it on cd as well. It cost me £5 on e-bay and is very enjoyable to listen do without the bump and glitches you get on vinyl. ...
Advantages: Some great tracks. Has Trial of Tears on it. Disadvantages: Some radio friendly, not so good songs.
This album has always had a hard time from critics and fans alike. It's an attempt at radio friendly songs 'apparently', and even the band themselves say this. Personally I like this album, it took a couple of listens to get into it, and it has a couple of poor songs, but some really shine through.
The poorer songs on the album are:
'You Not Me'; it's not too bad, but it lacks heaviness for my tastes, very radio friendly and commercial! 'Hollow ... ...a tad generic. It picks up a little bit at the end. 'Take Away my Pain'; similar comments to above, I like the solo and centre part of it, but the rest drags on a lot, and seems a bit long.
The above songs are very lightweight compared to a lot of DT stuff, having said that it's not like they ruin the album or anything like that, in fact it does all fit together nicely, but don't judge the album on the above songs.
Now the other songs:
'New Millennium'; ...
