Advantages: Strong Tracks, Good Lyrics, Original, Started the rebirth of modern Indie Music Disadvantages: quality of the first album could not be repeated on their following albums
When Franz Ferdinand released Take Me Out in 2004, it immediately charted at #3 in the British charts and reached the top 20 in numerous European Charts and even managed to do what many of its musical predecessors had previously failed to do : crack the US top 20. Its catchy guitar riffs and beautifully-soft lyrics immediately made it seem that Joy Division and The Cure had returned in what seemed the start of the British Indie/Post Punk revival ... ...Lyrics and a good original Franz Ferdinand Tune
7.This Fire- Probably the most original/individual track on the album, this touches on a guy's lust for a woman that can`t be controlled. Legendary Chorus.
8.Darts of Pleasure- Probably my least favourite anthem on the album. It still has good lyrics but it is comparable to "Evil and a Heathen" on the proceeding album "You could have it so much better"as it gets better towards the end. The lyrics ...
Advantages: Some good songs Disadvantages: All a bit samey
...- and his first album, Back To Bedlam - attracts opinions that are much more varied than the contents of the album itself. Personally, I think the album is ok - even bordering on good - but my main criticism of it would be the similarity of a lot of the songs. So much so that I find it impossible to give a track-by-track analysis and find enough to say about each song. Most people will be familiar with the album's signature track, You're Beautiful, ... ...the rest of the album: strummy acoustic guitars, simple pleasing harmonies, well-written meaningful lyrics and that little-bit-posh, little-bit-whiney, little-bit-nasal voice that wouldn't sound out of place narrating a Famous Five story. A few of the songs do stir me emotionally (especially Goodbye My Lover) and, on the whole, it is an album that I ocassionally enjoy listening to from start to finish. I would guess that this opinion is secretly ...
Advantages: Political message, Great riffs, Generally Incredible, storyline Disadvantages: None from my view
...album. I even wrote off American Idiot the single off as a bad song. The one lonely day i was watching kerrang and it came on. With nothing better to do i watched and listened intently. This was where I caught the green day bug. The songs seemed more mature and had an extra meaning and the solo in American Idiot just made me think they were trying to say "this is Green Day and we are back!" The album became a must have for me and therefore I went ... ...with all albums it took me a few listens to get into it. From there i learnt every song on the album on guitar, i even attempted on drums. The album was that good arguably it became an obssession. It also had a strong political view in it and therefore really caught my eye as a mature album. With a lot of messages that Green Day were trying to get across, returning to the true roots of punk, such as the Sex Pistols, and dragging it by the throat ...
Advantages: The best album of the first three a real turning point for Muse as a band Disadvantages: None, unless of course you don't like them....
...the charts. The release of Absolution would be the moment the Devon three piece would really hit the big time. A year in the making, absolution wasn't just going to be another album and the band intended it to be the next step in their musical journey. Having been tipped as the next Radiohead, Muse were certainly trying to evolve and enhance their sound and it meant that like the album before it, this album would be an improvement on the last. With ... ...something in it, but with Absolution they seems to destroy that theory with some particularly stunning tracks. Throughout the album there are tracks like "Hysteria" and "Stockholm Syndrome" that really show how far Bellamy's vocals have come from that debut album. His vocals seem to have improved with each album to the point where, his vocals seem to blend majestically into the songs. It's an album that really signalled the intent of what was to ...
