Advantages: Strong Tracks, Good Lyrics, Original, Started the rebirth of modern Indie Music Disadvantages: quality of the first album could not be repeated on their following albums
When Franz Ferdinand released Take Me Out in 2004, it immediately charted at #3 in the British charts and reached the top 20 in numerous European Charts and even managed to do what many of its musical predecessors had previously failed to do : crack the US top 20. Its catchy guitar riffs and beautifully-soft lyrics immediately made it seem that Joy Division and The Cure had returned in what seemed the start of the British Indie/Post Punk revival ... ...Lyrics and a good original Franz Ferdinand Tune
7.This Fire- Probably the most original/individual track on the album, this touches on a guy's lust for a woman that can`t be controlled. Legendary Chorus.
8.Darts of Pleasure- Probably my least favourite anthem on the album. It still has good lyrics but it is comparable to "Evil and a Heathen" on the proceeding album "You could have it so much better"as it gets better towards the end. The lyrics ...
Advantages: The best album of the first three a real turning point for Muse as a band Disadvantages: None, unless of course you don't like them....
...the charts. The release of Absolution would be the moment the Devon three piece would really hit the big time. A year in the making, absolution wasn't just going to be another album and the band intended it to be the next step in their musical journey. Having been tipped as the next Radiohead, Muse were certainly trying to evolve and enhance their sound and it meant that like the album before it, this album would be an improvement on the last. With ... ...something in it, but with Absolution they seems to destroy that theory with some particularly stunning tracks. Throughout the album there are tracks like "Hysteria" and "Stockholm Syndrome" that really show how far Bellamy's vocals have come from that debut album. His vocals seem to have improved with each album to the point where, his vocals seem to blend majestically into the songs. It's an album that really signalled the intent of what was to ...
Advantages: Absolute ear candy Disadvantages: VERY unoriginal!
...and take notice of The Bravery, an aching rocker about loneliness. It seems like Sam Endicott is a fan of Bono, and you can tell by the way he wrings every last drop of emotion out of his vocal chords, like his idol. Endicott's understated lyric of wanting 'something for nothing' hints at a great songwriter lurking below the tongue-in-cheek cock-rock exterior. Opening with beautiful twinkling keys and a bassline that sounds like a motorbike being ... ...verses, before a fury of drums and guitar duke it out on the bridge, before an epic chorus, led by that gorgeous keyboard melody. A masterfully constructed synth-pop song.
"I'm a beggar and a chooser, I'm accused and accuser, but nothing's unconditional"
10) 'The Ring Song'
Not the best follow-on from the brilliance of its predecessor, this nevertheless has its own charms. It's a welcome change of pace from the high-paced syth-pop explosions of ...
Advantages: New sound with familiar feel Disadvantages: Feel like they could have done more songs
Very few recording artists tend to better previous albums but coldplay are the exeption that prove the rule with their greatest collection of song to date. The opening track Square One screams out as a single release but it is not the only track that does this as even the hidden track Kingdom Come inpired by the late Jonny Cash deserves a place amongst the best seller charts. The singles released from this album Speed of Sound, Fix You, The Hardest ...
Advantages: Timeless Classic Disadvantages: Can take a few listens to get into
Hailing from Leeds, Kaiser Chiefs blasted into the charts 3 and a half years ago (2005) with this album. It includes some timeless classics which no one will every forget like "I Predict a Riot", "Oh My God", Modern Way", "Everyday I Love You Less & Less". All tracks soared to the top of the charts.
For me I had to listen to this album a few times before deciding it was good. Once i passed that stage, i was addicted! The reason for this is that ... ...at the time and took a while to get used to. Each and every track is catchy, in all a massive sound and content range.
Very experimental both vocally and instrumentally. Different.
This is the type of album you can put on in the background or in turn, to rock out to with your friends.
