...of this album are in Echoes but one. 'Learning to Fly'. Much like The Division Bell, it is in a complete class of it's own and bothe these album are amongst my most treasured music. I respect the cover illustration for its modern yet strange theme….it conveys an idea of loneliness, beauty and all round uniqueness. I would recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of the following:

Jimi Hendrix
Roger Waters
The Doors.

This 2 CD 19 track odyssey begins with one of their better known songs, although even the those that think they don't know much about the band will probably find that many of the songs strike a chord of recognition within. "Break on Through" opens with a fuzz box guitar and the relentless rhythms of the bass. This dark blues-rock journey ... ...yet it is easily their best known song.
"The Crystal Ship" carries us away to the other spectrum of the band. A vocal dominated mellow number that sees the music in a subservient role to Morrison's honey voice. I must admit that its not a song that I expected to see on an album such as this but it does show the band in their mellow reflective mood. It has to be said that drugs and in Morrison's case alcohol played a massive part in the bands creativity. ...

OPINION
There are some really good songs on the album, and his style is unique and inspired. His style has been described as indie folk, psych, freak folk, naturalismo, and New weird America; his lyrics are often surreal and naturalistic. Surreal about sums his style up seen as though one of his songs "Little Boys" is sang from the perspective of a skitzophrenic hermaphrodite.

...the best known Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, all show the versatility and competent harmonies of the band from Scotland. However, except for one or two exceptions this album lacks the strength in depth of a true Greatest Hits release. As the title suggests we have all the hits, but sadly we also have the 'and more' which are fundamentally sub-standard.

Sky is the DUDE ! Check out "Spaceship" and "Rent Strike" . The man is the real thing, and this is awesome ! ! ! You will have to wait a little while for the full Spaceship album but this is a good taste of what is to come ! Also the great hits are well represented.
