This 2 CD 19 track odyssey begins with one of their better known songs, although even the those that think they don't know much about the band will probably find that many of the songs strike a chord of recognition within. "Break on Through" opens with a fuzz box guitar and the relentless rhythms of the bass. This dark blues-rock journey ...
...yet it is easily their best known song. "The Crystal Ship" carries us away to the other spectrum of the band. A vocal dominated mellow number that sees the music in a subservient role to Morrison's honey voice. I must admit that its not a song that I expected to see on an album such as this but it does show the band in their mellow reflective mood. It has to be said that drugs and in Morrison's case alcohol played a massive part in the bands creativity. ...

The Clash, The Singles review

Advantages: Plenty of great tunes to keep you listening
Disadvantages: Obvious lack of some classics that weren't singles

This is a great compilation that charts the development and journey of the Clash from their early days as hedonistic punks, to their later days of commercial success in the US. There are loads of great tunes on this album, and one can but wonder why none of them were UK Top Ten Hits during the band's lifetime. All the key phases of The Clash are represented here, and this CD, with its wide range of genre-spanning tracks is a great testiment to the ...
...an avowed Clash fan, you probably own several Clash CDs already, and therefore perhaps you may find this album an unneccesary addition to your collection. Also, to get a true reflection of the Clash, one must also consider the quality of many album-only tracks which aren't featured on this compliation for obvious reasons. This does not detract from what a great album this is, with the ability to appeal to a wide and diverse audience. ...

In The Top Ten Bands Of The 1970s

Advantages: So Easy To Listen To and some Great Tracks
Disadvantages: The Brilliant "Feel The Benefit" is not on this album

The period from 1972 to 1979 was when in my opinion their output was at its absolute peak and many great songs were released. ...Good in 1995 but it never got released. They finally recorded it in 2005 and this is the version we have on the CD. The CD comes in a cardboard sleve which gives it that little bit more extra protection. The cover is silver and features a picture of the full 5 boys walking in the rain and has the title in white.
