Advantages: Good voice Disadvantages: Too much Irish Folk
...became a suprise hit around this time last year when her debut album This is Life was one of the biggest sellers. The Scottish born Macdonald has had some people thinking she was Irish for due to her singing voice having a distinct Irish tone. Here is a little bit about her rise to stardom. She started writing and performing songs at the age of 15 around Glasgow and sent a demo cd away after an NME advert. She was then signed to the production company ... ...Released on 30 July 2007 This is the Life is one of those rare albums that took nearly six months to rise to the top of the album charts. The single that caused the huge rise in album sales was undoubtedly This is the life which was the single when the album finally went to number one. It has now sold over 1,600,000 copies worldwide
1.) Mr Rock & Roll
This opens with some gentle guitar and then the drums kick in, This is a very irish sounding track ...
...review on her best album I'm Not Dead. The Album
This album is truly amazing, here is a track by track guide incase you want to know what you are buying. Track 1- Stupid Girls
Pink has always been known for her "up yours" attitude, she never really seems to care about politics, or fame and doesn't get sucked in like every other singer does, and this song is all about that. A great start to an amazing album, but I usually do skip it, ... ...listen to the lyrics and I'm sure in some way it was a hit against her lifestyle. There are some great one liners in this song that really make you laugh, the tracks one of the weaker ones and I don't find it as good as a lot of the other's on the album but it's still got a brilliant chorus and great video. Memorable Lyrics: "Disaster is all around, a world of despair, your only concern, will it f**k up my hair" "They travel in packs of two or ...
Advantages: Original and easy to listen to. Disadvantages: Might find the songs a bit same-ish.
Where to start with this album? Arctic Monkeys absolutely exploded onto the Indie scene with their refreshingly different style. This album made them suppermassive and it is essential for any collection. Even Noel Gallagher admits they have trangressed into part of youth culture! This album combines Alex Turner's ingenious lyrics with some awesome riffs. The song 'Fake Tales of San Francisco' is a good example of this, as it utilises a musically ... ...is their debut single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', a song which has just about made it to cult classic status. This fast paced tune is a firm fans favourite and is what the Monkey's are all about. I would recommend this album to anybody into Indie Rock'n'Roll music, or anyone looking for something that bit different. Oh, and also for anyone that plays guitar, playing along with this album is thoroughly satisfying! ...
Advantages: If you love radio ones music this is everything you could ask for Disadvantages: really poor variety of songs
Of all the Now albums, this is by far the worst. I struggled to find many songs that I was actually willing to listen to, and my mum who has been buying these Cd's for years is only willing to listen to a select group of songs. There is very little diversity in the styles of music on the albums; predominantly being dance. They have put the token folk song in there "Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me" merely because of it's success in the charts. They ... ..."Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own", "Feist - 1234" and "Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah".
However if love the music they play on radio one then this is definately for you.
Personally I wouldn't blink when walking past this in a shop and I wouldn't consider buying it. ...
Advantages: Upbeat, tuneful rough garage hippie sound. Some strong songs on the album. Disadvantages: They arent really the sort of band that make massive musical waves, although they are charming.
The Kooks are Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Max Rafferty (bass), and Paul Garred (drums). The band are named after a David Bowie song, but this doesnt at all reflect their style. The band met while at Brighton Music College. Essentially they are a really low budget garage rock band, although they do sound rough around the edges, I believe this gives them their charm. Their influences are The Police, The Strokes and strangely ... ...the bands innocent sound. This album is their debit released in 2006 and contains Top 20 hit 'You Dont Love Me' and 'She Moves In Her Own Way' . And acclaim for tracks on this album doesnt end there: 'Naive' shot to number 5 by the spring of that year! Musically their sound is percussionistic, melodic and upbeat. I think they are like a really good university union band that have a really mellow hippie vibe about their songs (especially in 'She Moves ...
