Advantages: Superb harmonies, excellent musicianship, modern take on bluegrass Disadvantages: One misplaced track
Not surprisingly given its title, IV is the North Carolina quartet's fourth album and their most commercial to date. While the band have certainly not abandoned their bluegrass roots they have successfully crossed over into something more accessible, a kind of 'newgrass' if you like. I'd only vaguely heard of the band before their appearance on BBC's Later with Jools Holland earlier this year and I'm not sure that reviews of their previous albums ... ...fall under the bluegrass banner, IV as a whole is better described as 'Americana'; pedal steel and steel guitar send the songs more in the direction of alt country and should appeal to the wider audience than the banjo dominated songs that used to be the trademark of CCL.
On IV, CCL show that they are no one trick pony. From the opening track, "Chip of a Star" through to the finale "Thanks", this is a collection of songs that move seamlessly from ...
Advantages: Pure Eagles excellence Disadvantages: None
...Rating: 8/10) How Long It’s now time to up the tempo. How Long was the first single to be release from the album, both in the UK and the US. This is a very catchy track and anyone familiar with the Eagles’ music will recognise the familiar trademark of lead vocals alternating between Don Henley and Glen Frey. (My Rating: 10/10) Busy Being Fabulous This upbeat track opens with a bit of a ‘country’ feel to it, and the theme ... ...all the same. Long Road Out of Eden = Once upon a time, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody was renowned for being one of the longest records ever to be recorded. These days, there is little or no doubt that the record has been broken now that the Eagles have come up with Long Road out of Eden. A full ten minutes worth of music shows just what talented musicians these people are. You really do have to have your stereo turned up to actually ...

...This is a greatest hits album from a band who I have up there as one of the master bands of Rock and Roll music. I am sure some of this bands songs have appeared on movies as soundtracks. In addition the main reason I bought this album is because they included the song you better you bet as track number 16 as well as the classic song 'who are you'.
Largely because of these two classic tracks I bought the album as I wanted to listen to other tracks ... ...songs all of which were greatest hits by the Who. I will try to describe and detail as best as I can on a track by track basis.
-------------------------------
Track 1: I can't explain: This perhaps is an interesting song, as it starts off in a punchy and forceful way on the guitar as well as having nice to hear lyrics. The song provided me with a pleasant mood to hear other songs on the list. Overall I find this a really great track that really ...
Of Whales and Woe is Les Claypool's first proper solo album. His name may not be familiar to all as he is better known as Primus' frontman bassist extraordinaire. This album was released back in 2006 on his own record label Prawn Song. (It was recently re-released on vinyl as of November 2009.) Not so much of the wacky lyrics on this album but a far more accessable feel than his previous works. Nearly every track featured here is bass-driven in his ... ...check this out! The arrangements of the other instruments like saxophone sitar, guitar and drums, etc sit really well together without drowning anything out. The songs themselves are really catchy and you'll find yourself singing along too by the end of it. There is even one track on here, Iowan Girl, written specially for his wife with some of the most amazing bass playing I have ever heard. There isn't a bad track on here in my opinion. TRACK LISTING: ...
Advantages: A great number of songs are good. Highly original. Disadvantages: No all the songs are that great.
Radiohead does it again. Highly original record. Most songs last forever. The in and out bass line of "Airbag" is brilliant. I also like the way this song slowly unfolds, specially the brilliant guitar. You might be surprised to hear that I don´t care too much for "Paranoid Android" one of their most famous singles. I thought "Subterranean Homesick Alien" was great too. "Let Down" is also a super song that must be in your collection. "Karma Police" ...
