Advantages: Original and easy to listen to. Disadvantages: Might find the songs a bit same-ish.
Where to start with this album? Arctic Monkeys absolutely exploded onto the Indie scene with their refreshingly different style. This album made them suppermassive and it is essential for any collection. Even Noel Gallagher admits they have trangressed into part of youth culture! This album combines Alex Turner's ingenious lyrics with some awesome riffs. The song 'Fake Tales of San Francisco' is a good example of this, as it utilises a musically ... ...is their debut single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', a song which has just about made it to cult classic status. This fast paced tune is a firm fans favourite and is what the Monkey's are all about. I would recommend this album to anybody into Indie Rock'n'Roll music, or anyone looking for something that bit different. Oh, and also for anyone that plays guitar, playing along with this album is thoroughly satisfying! ...
...the crowd Their album, Beautiful World tells us that it really is a beautiful world. To me this album is typical Take That, fun pop but with a classic take. In fact Take That say themselves that this album is a "Throwback to the 90's with a modern twist. The album was released on November 27th 2006. What I find incredible is that even though it had only been released for just over a month it still was the second best selling album of 2006 in the ... ...two favourite songs along with Beautiful World. I didn't really like the song Mancunian Way, to me it was a bit too northern. Even though they are from MAnchester they seemed to put on really strong accents for this song and for me it just didn't work. The rest of the songs on the album are as follows: 1. Reach Out 2. Patience 3. Beautiful World 4. Hold On 5. Like I Never Loved you at all 6. Shine 7. I'd Wait for Life 8. Ain't no Sense in Love 9. ...
Advantages: A beautiful voice... Disadvantages: but not up to his usual high standard.
I have followed Andrea's career from the very beginning when Pavarotti took him under his wing. Pavarotti knew then what an exceptional asset Andrea would become for the opera world. Although Pavarotti, possessing an exceptional talent himself, drew in hordes to the world of classical and operatic music, it was Andrea who stole everyone's heart. It was Andrea who opened our eyes, ears and hearts to the type of music most of us shrugged aside and ... ...of tea... but when Andrea opens his mouth and lets out that first note, everyone's heart stops beating and we listen. Andrea turned operatic type songs into music the rest of the world wanted to hear, and by modernizing it, a whole new type of music was created. Thank God he never went on to become a lawyer as his father had intended... and thank God for such an extraordinary voice.
How to describe such a voice... ANGELIC... simply the voice of ...
Advantages: Another portion of music from Alex Turner Disadvantages: Doesn't have that 'catchyness' that the Arctic Monkeys has...
The Age Of The Understatement is the debut album from The Last Shadow Puppets; a side project of Alex Turner of The Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of The Rascals...one you may well have heard of, but one you may not have!!
The Age of the Understatement was released in the UK on 21 April 2008, going straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart...the hype and success surrounding it was for the most part due to Turner's role in the band. The likes ... ...in the studio.
The Age of the Understatement consists of 12 tracks written by the two of them...on the surface you'd assume it would just sound like the Arctic Monkey's 'third album' due to Turner's rather unique sound and lyrically prowess. But to isolate it from anything the Arctic Monkeys had done previously, they brought in the London Metropolitan Orchestra for the recording to add a new style to the music. An interesting twist on a modern classic ...
Advantages: A new and exciting sound Disadvantages: May not suit fans of "Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not"
In case you haven't heard of Arctic Monkeys by now, they consist of four young lads who go by the names of Alex Turner (lead vocals and songwriter), Jamie Cook (guitar), Nick O' Malley (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums and backing vocals). They were one of the first bands to shoot to fame through the internet and their debut album 'Whatever People Say I am, that's what I'm not" won the 2006 Mercury music prize and was the fastest ... ...second album 'Favourite worst nightmare" also went to number one in the charts and sold over 225,000 copies in it's first week after it's release in 2007. This album was also nominated for the Mercury Prize too. They have also won two Brit Awards! Us fans have had a long time to wait for the new album and believe me, it doesn't disappoint. What I would say is that it isn't an instant hit in your mind but if you give it a couple of listens it becomes ...
