Advantages: Soars above anything else I've heard this year. Most Talon-ted act of 2009 gets my vote :) Disadvantages: None spring to mind
...space.
For those unfamiliar, Them Crooked Vultures is a collaboration of Queens of the Stoneage and former Kyuss frontman Josh Homme, Former Nirvana Drummer and Foo Fighters genius Dave Grohl, the legend that is Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and Alain Johannes, live rythm guitarist, also of Queens of the Stoneage.
We are talking about major talent here and from the opening track, 'No One Loves Me and Neither Do I', right through to 'Spinning in ... ...magically, like a cauldron full of sacrificial ingredients bubbling away to a haunting rythm of desert blues metal.
'New Fang', the debut single is a stand out classic, it's breakbeat drum and chord tempo changes throughout the track can be likened to some of Homme's previous collaborations with Grohl, it's like a sequel to No One Knows by Queens Of the Stoneage, which also featured Grohl as a session drummer for that album. Imagine that then, but ...
Advantages: A great collection of some of the bands best material Disadvantages: Everyone will have an opinion on tracks that could have made it
...the release of the first Greatest Hits collection from the Foo Fighters. Since the split of Nirvana, Dave Grohl has taken on many projects but the Foo Fighters are perhaps the one he will be most remembered for. Rather than being an end for the band thankfully this greatest hits collection is just satisfying part of their record deal and the band will be back recording new material in the future. One look at the track listing shows that they have ... ...rarity when it comes to greatest hit albums as normally there are a few dodgy choices but this seems to be the best showcase of what the band are all about. Former in 1994 after the death of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain, the Foo Fighters have grown from a solo project by front man Dave Grohl to become one of the biggest rock bands in the world. It's been quite a journey with various different styles and approaches to each album but this greatest ...
Advantages: It's aimed more at newbies to Queen rather than die hard fans. It's still awesome though Disadvantages: There's no point for diehard fans to get this, nothing new.
...greatest hits album, it’s called Absolute Greatest, it’s the 20 best songs from Queen and I think they did a magnificent job. I think the fact that you get 20 songs, allows these newbies to listen to the music and really enjoy their best work before getting to their less commercialised work. I think the fact that it’s only one disk works brilliantly as well, I think anymore would put the people that this album is aimed at off. Final Opinion
... ...have all of their albums, there really is no point in buying this album, however if you are like me, and have one or two songs that you brought from ITunes on your laptop, then this is the perfect CD to make you realise what you are missing for not having the other 18 on your ITunes. For me this album is just perfect, I now have the entire collection I want, buying ‘presents’ and stealing the songs is brilliant idea. I would recommend buying this ...
Advantages: Classic Kiss sound, Great Extras, Completely Re-recorded classics, DVD Disadvantages: DVD not very long
When Kiss Frontman Paul Stanley promised the best KISS album in decades, we were all a little sceptial to say the least. Could KISS really produce an album as good as their earlier 70s work? Well the moment finally came and boy was his promise correct!
The first track on the album happens to be the first single released, "Modern Day Delilah" and with the hard drums, rocking guitar solos and Pauls high pitched vocals, there is no doubt this is KISS, ... ...Animal" and in my opinion the new kiss anthem "Stand", each one sounding differant but still providing a great classic Kiss sound.
"When Lightning Strikes" is new KISS guitarist Thommy Thayers vocal debut and he does a great job, sounding like a mix between Paul & Gene, and rocking a great tune.
Drummer Eric Singer also has a Vocal track on the album entitled "All for the Glory" again this is definately an anthem that was made for the live shows.

Advantages: It is an album for the true Classic Rock lover Disadvantages: I can find no disadvantages
These guys have captured the sound of the Seventies and Eighties to perfection.
Think the Classic Rock styles of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Coverdale, Hughes and more they are all here but with all the originality that is Electric Mary.
Once you hear songs like 'Let Me Out,' 'Sorry,' and 'One in a Million' you will be playing them again and again and very soon you will be singing along with them. Infectious and exciting are just two adjectives to describe ... ...be sorry. I was first introduced to Electric Mary by way of a live show in Melbourne whilst on holiday in 2006. The venue was an upstairs, smallish music lounge called "The Ding Dong Lounge" in the inner city. What greeted my ears when Electric Mary came on stage was the wall of sound these guys produced with the standard, "Line - up and equipment, it was phenominal. Every member of the band had his own stage presence and personality but with that ...
