The flute is excellent
Advantages: Agressive lyrics, food for thought Disadvantages: The audio quality
Initially I got hold of a vinyl of this album and during the upgrade period it was the third album to be added to my CD collections and I’m very proud to own it.
Named after 18th century agriculturist, Jethro Tull came into existence in 1967 led by Ian Anderson. Basically from Blackpool & Luton, Great Britain. With typical flute work of Ian Anderson, they made the cross lead of guitar and flute their forte. Guitarist Martin Barre became a part of ... ...Ohara and Doane Parry. Drummer Bunker left the group after “Aqualung” was released. However their first foray “Sunshine Day” into the international scene was massive fiasco. But in 1971 Jethro Tull’s best ever work “Aqualung” was released but Ian Andersson’s lyrics became quite controversial because of his unadulterated statement on religion and society. But they undoubtedly cut out their niché with the magical flute of Ian Anderson and nervous but ...

Systematic chaos
Advantages: Cohesive offering, great instrumentalists Disadvantages: the self indulgence is not to everyones tastes
dream theaters 9th studio album and their first with roadrunner records has alot riding on it. Being signed to roadrunner means that dream theater will get their get music heard by many new potential fans so this had to be a good record. Thankfully they hav pulled off an album that sounds modern and relevant to the current metal scene while still maintaining their progressive sound that their long time fans know and love. Kicking off the album with ... ...the impression that it will be a great album. returning to a technical progressive rock sound reminiscent of the mid section of the song octavaium from the last album of the same name, a good album opener. they then calm things down abit (but not much) with the gothic tinged metal anthem forsaken again a good song. They maintain a dark atmosphere throughout the album making it sound like a more cohesive effort than some previous dt offerings. Overall ...

Intriguing Mix Of Prog Rock And Commercial Pop
Advantages: Great memorable tunes. Some fantastic masterpieces, e.g. title track. Disadvantages: A few tracks will be too 'commercial' for fans, e.g. Most Toys.
...of enjoyment from listening.
Somewhere Else is Marillion's latest album from 2007 and it is clearly going in a more commercial, 'short song' direction, especially when compared to their previous double-CD epic 'Marbles'. It contains many songs which make good single material, such as 'Thankyou, Whoever You Are'. The songs are tuneful, catchy and still have that essential Marilion 'feel', helped along with the wonderfully expressive vocals of Steve ... ...finish to the album.
Somewhere Else will take you on a journey through heavy rock, to dramatic prog, to gentle lullaby-style melodies. While it may disappoint fans who were expecting something more ambitious/epic, it has the makings of a strong album. If you are only familiar with the Fish-era material, you'd be better looking elsewhere for a first impression of a Hogarth album. But if you are already a fan of the sound of late Marillion, it's worth ...
