A Pet album of mine
Review of Pet Sounds Sessions, The - Beach Boys (The) by
rsmith
Advantages: A classic album - the best ever?
Disadvantages: None at all
...- I just feel that Pet Sounds is a better album than any Beatles album… it's stood the test of time better, and it's somehow more complete, and, yes, perfect.
Incidentally, I read somewhere that "God only Knows" is supposed to be Paul McCartney's favourite pop song. So the respect is mutual.
The album cover is slightly strange - the band members feeding goats at San Diego Zoo seems quite mundane, lighthearted even, especially in view of the perfect ... ...Brian Wilson played the songs from Pet Sounds, with an orchestra and backing band The Wondermints (whose albums are well worth a listen if you like the Beach Boys. Their song "Tracey Hide" would sit extremely well on "Pet Sounds"). I would have loved to have been there. ...

Demonstration of an accomplished singer/songwriter
Review of Piano, A (The Collection) - Tori Amos by
Krislynn
Advantages: Excellent arrangement of each CD
Disadvantages: Some important songs missing
I really love the packaging. The “keys” and the box are very sturdy. I bought both the regular and special edition from Barnes and Noble. I am going to keep it the regular edition out in the open as a conversation piece. It's too nice to just hide away. The book is absolutely gorgeous! She talks about where she got here song ideas, which is very fascinating. They all have a different story and come from a different experience in her life. My three ... ...to Dublin, and Not David Bowie. I like the others but these are my top three. Take Me with You to me is definitely from the Little Earthquakes era, Walk to Dublin screams Boys for Pele, and Not David Bowie is To Venus and back to me. My favorite CDs are CD A (LE extended), C (Pele, Venus, and Tales) and D (Scarlet, Beekeeper, and Chorigirl. LE extended (CD A) is how Tori wanted the original CD to come out. Some of the most beautiful b-sides such ...

Sail on the Steel Breeze
Review of Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd by
Frankingsteins
Advantages: Distinctive sound, incredible guitar/keyboard album.
Disadvantages: A bit samey, and weak in the middle.
There's not a great deal I could say about Pink Floyd's 1975 album that hasn't already been said. But obviously, you know, I'll try and stuff. (This is why I normally write about bands like Subterranean Masquerade, whom you've never heard of).
The sequel to the phenomenally popular 'Dark Side of the Moon' was always going to be a huge seller based on legacy alone, which is a shame as this inevitably led to the band adopting a more radio-friendly ... ...musical (and, I suppose, substance) experimentation produced such inspired 20-minute classics as 'Echoes' and such ridiculous 20-minute embarrassments as 'Atom Heart Mother' in equal measure, were now making albums targeted at the mass international audience they had snared. The band's early discography is packed with incredible highs and lows, and though much of it is inherently rubbish, the audacity alone makes it enjoyable. Now a sensation thanks ...

Good, But Dull
Review of Daughtry - Daughtry by
Soho_Black
Advantages: A decent soft rock sound
Disadvantages: Very little variation
..."American Idol" the season after Daughtry had been on to say goodbye to the acts who had been voted off. It's an expansive number with a bit more of a pop-rock influence than earlier tracks and reminds me of The Calling again. It's the kind of song made for American TV, with a big chorus and a soft rock feel, but it's nothing new and the same kind of thing that TV shows have been using as theme tunes and interludes for decades.
The next track seems ... ...low as 99 pence. If Daughtry is going to be your kind of music, then this is a well crafted album and well worth a listen and it's only the lack of variation in sound that lets it down for me. Daughtry certainly proves here that he has the talent to go a long way in the industry; he just needs to develop a wider range of sound to ensure that people don't get bored of him too quickly. ...

Jordin Sparks Album
Review of Jordin Sparks - Jordin Sparks by
alispencer22
Advantages: Catchy songs
Disadvantages: Few rubbish album filler
Jordin Sparks is an 18 yrs American Pop/R&B singer.
She won the 6th series of American Idol in 2007.
Her debut self titled album ranges from ballads like her first single 'This is my Now' to her second US single Tatoo (very poppy) and a duet with Chris Brown titled 'No Air (R&B).
Album:
1) Tatoo - This charted at number 8 on the billboard hot 100. It's a cute pop song about her love for a boy that she holds close to her heart.
2) One step at ... ...the US. It's sound is like an early Christina Aguilera come Britney Spears. Easy to listen to and quite catchy
3) No Air- Duet with Chris Brown...Absolutely love this single. Has a funky R&B edge to it and again very catchy. This was released in the US and reached number 3 on the billboard hot 100.
4) Freeze - Co written by Sparks it has a more mature sound to it. 5) Shy boy - more of an album filler. Sound very much like on Freeze
6) Now you ...
