In the Beginning.......
Advantages: Some all time classics songs Disadvantages: Format seems out of kilter to me
The Platinum Collection from Genesis is a three CD boxed set of all their best songs. It's really the story of Genesis told backwards. The third CD ends with their first ever release and the first CD begins with their last hit before they stopped recording. It's really quite hard to review this CD, as its 40 odd songs long and takes about 4 hours to listen to properly, and a track by track analysis would take forever to write and be extremely tedious ... ...lots of live albums) went platinum and spawned many chart successes. In 1996, Phil Collins left the band, not through musical differences, it was simply a matter of geography (this was when Collins moved to Switzerland). Rutherford and Banks decided to carry on without him and in 1997, they announced that Collins would be replaced by ex-Stiltskin vocalist Ray Wilson. In September 1997, Genesis released what would be their final studio album "Calling ...

Get into the Spirit
Advantages: It rocks - mostly Disadvantages: Some of the worse ones are here too...
In my quest to spread the word on all things that are Rush, I am reviewing a collection of their little ditties spanning from 1974 - 87. Now… yes… I know, I know, there will always be those of you who say Rush? What the heck is that? Well, they were formed in 1969 in Toronto, Canada and released their first album in 1974. That first album featured Geddy Lee on Vocals and Bass, Alex Lifeson on Guitar and John Rutsey on Drums. However, John Rutsey ... ...was the drummer (as well as chief lyricist).
Rush have progressed over the years from bluesy hard rock, to creative heavy rock inspired by dungeons, dragons and demons, to a more eighties feel, and now very accomplished rock music. I think they fell away in the eighties and some of the albums of this era rarely visit my stereo nowadays. Having said that, they have been one of my favourite bands for… well, forever really…

A demo album that you wouldn't think is one!
Advantages: Gives you a little insight into what Evanescence is. Disadvantages: You can't buy it in shops.
...many line-up changes.
Origin-(4/5)
Origin is a small 35 second intro to the album. It is only instrumental with some unknown spoken words. Some people would describe this as bizarre, but i think it goes perfectly with some of the songs on this album.
Whisper-(5/5)
Whisper is the last song on the album Fallen, but it is also on Origin. It is an awesome song which brings out a more symphonic side to Evanescence. It brings different instruments ... ...is used very differently throughout the verses and the bridge verse is a masterpiece bring a short burst of operatic vocals to the song and making it sound darker. At the end group chorals are used to again make the song sound darker. A fantastic song!
Imaginary-(5/5)
Imaginary brings imagery as well as music to the album this time. Many different instruments are used on this track that you do not find on others such as the combination of the harpsichord ...

Hard to resist!
Advantages: Sheer musical genius, classical music excerpts, unique Disadvantages: Those who dislike classical music may not appreciate it as much.
Muse are, in my opinion, rock gods and I loved every album they've produced to date. I consider Matt Bellamy a musical genius of the (rubbishly named) 'noughties' decade (of course I say this whilst also being aware the the talent of his bandmates too). As I was so busy in America this summer I kind of had my head in the sand and so it was a big surprise to see another Muse album on the shelves. Muse are a band that are going from height to height, ... ...this album seems to be as good if not even more fantastic than their previous releases... *~ The Tracks~* 1. UPRISING The album opens with a song that has Muse stamped all over it - the electronic backing, the epic guitar instrumentals and striking lyrics. This is a song full of attitude and self-importance that would not be out of place on 'Black Holes and Revelations.' It is a very interestingly political track about resisting the media's ...

When We Are in the mood for Westlife...
Advantages: exciting, soothing, tracks, price Disadvantages: /
I've always liked Westlife, though I have never actually gone out and bought one of their albums. And with the recent release of their latest album, 'Where We Are', the case was no different. However a friend of mine who is head over heels in love with Westlife wanted my opinion on the album and, keen to find out what their music was like nowadays, I jumped at the chance, ready and raring to explore. The cover of the album is quite attractive, a ... ...calm. The four band members are on the front, a distant photo of them all dressed in dark clothes and walking slowly. Again it is all so peaceful and welcoming - definitely a cover that would attract me to the album amongst others. You'll find that Westlife covers are generally black or blue so it does mean that fans know what they are looking for too! Now the album itself is home to thirteen tracks, of which I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into. ...
