Advantages: Great variety of songs, enough tracks to keep anybody occupied for some time. Disadvantages: Slightly genre-specific, I suppose.
What is there to say about Steeleye Span to the unacquainted? The immediate comparison that leaps to mind is to the contemporary British folk-group, Fairport Convention, but it is unlikely that many of Fairport's fans will have managed to miss out on Steeleye altogether, and they, too, have faded rather into obscurity, rendering the comparison quite useless. For many Rumour and Sigh marked a return to the form Richard Thompson was during the early 80's period of "Shoot out the lights" and "Hand of Kindness". Those classic's in Thompson's cannon were as much the result of the fine production work of Joe Boyd as the brilliant songwriting and guitar playing of Thompson. I'm not giving Metro Station a bad review just because Trace Cyrus is Miley Cyrus's brother. The reason I am giving them a bad review is because the album they produced is just awful. It shouldn't even be called music. It is watered-down pop punk that doesn't really deserve much recognition. Evanescence are one of the bands in an obscure section of rock that action get media attention. This is unusual. The thing that definitely stood out to me on the album was Amy Lee's (vocalist) ability to use classic instruments to boost the originality. I will review this album, track-by-track. **Going Under**
This song is one of the heavier tracks of the album. The tempo of this track is generally slow but it is still good. Lee's vocals in this ... ...at the same time.
**Bring me to Life** This song is the one that launched Evanescence into the limelight. It was a #1 in Britain for four weeks which surprised a lot of people because of their genre. This chart postition was definitely well deserved as it is a powerful song. Lee's vocals are assisted by Paul Mccoy as an extra in the chorus.
