9. A Tramp Shining
The orchestration is a major factor in this period of Jimmy Webb. He had a lot of creative juices to vent and he mastered the assembled musicians to a tee. As mentioned previously, he was a perfectionist in ever respect and would do many takes until he was relatively happy with the result.
The stand out songs are 'Didn't We' (there is a strange segment that starts the album and then breaks into 'Didn't We' - this ... ...the times]). It showcases Jimmys songwriting. He like to throw strange shapes into his songwriting. Just as you are expecting a ryhming couplet, you'll get a devious extra line. For anyone who has ever tried to write a song or lyric, this man is the guy to observe.
Then we have 'Name Of My Sorrow', which tells on Jimmys age (twenties at the point of writing). Here we have an out and out love and lost song. It's brilliantly perceptive. Jimmy has ...
Advantages: Lots of great songs, excellent background music, not a bad track Disadvantages: You'll find yourself singing along all the time!
...all changed at Christmas, when my family made me sit through the cringe-inducing Mel Gibson rom-com, 'What Women Want'. We can argue about the pros and cons of the film another time, but for me the only bright point was the soundtrack
For those that haven't seen the film, fell asleep or walked out halfway through, the soundtrack is pretty much all Sinatra. I was instantly hooked - the foot was tapping, I was humming along, I couldn't help myself!

1. My Way
--------------
Oh come on, everybody must know this! From the famous "And now, the end is near" this is pure gold. A great song - we travel each and every by-way with Frank and come out the other end grinning from ear to ear
2. Strangers in the Night
---------------------------------
A mid more soulful and melodic than some of the songs. A great couple of opening bars, violins aplenty and some great lyrics

Of Whales and Woe is Les Claypool's first proper solo album. His name may not be familiar to all as he is better known as Primus' frontman bassist extraordinaire. This album was released back in 2006 on his own record label Prawn Song. (It was recently re-released on vinyl as of November 2009.) Not so much of the wacky lyrics on this album but a far more accessable feel than his previous works. Nearly every track featured here is bass-driven in his ... ...check this out! The arrangements of the other instruments like saxophone sitar, guitar and drums, etc sit really well together without drowning anything out. The songs themselves are really catchy and you'll find yourself singing along too by the end of it. There is even one track on here, Iowan Girl, written specially for his wife with some of the most amazing bass playing I have ever heard. There isn't a bad track on here in my opinion. TRACK LISTING: ...
Advantages: A great number of songs are good. Highly original. Disadvantages: No all the songs are that great.
Radiohead does it again. Highly original record. Most songs last forever. The in and out bass line of "Airbag" is brilliant. I also like the way this song slowly unfolds, specially the brilliant guitar. You might be surprised to hear that I don´t care too much for "Paranoid Android" one of their most famous singles. I thought "Subterranean Homesick Alien" was great too. "Let Down" is also a super song that must be in your collection. "Karma Police" ...
Advantages: A few super songs. Disadvantages: Some songs are not that good musically speaking.
I have always admired and been a fan of Sarah McLachlan´s music. Certain songs I find better than others. My favorite song in this record is "Fallen". It is a musically breath taking and perfect song in my opinion. It is one of those songs that lasts forever. I never get tired of listening to it. I also liked "Drifting", "Answer" and "Time". I didn´t care too much for the rest. She has great songs, the only problem with the album is that it is one ...
