Advantages: Classic Kiss sound, Great Extras, Completely Re-recorded classics, DVD Disadvantages: DVD not very long
When Kiss Frontman Paul Stanley promised the best KISS album in decades, we were all a little sceptial to say the least. Could KISS really produce an album as good as their earlier 70s work? Well the moment finally came and boy was his promise correct!
The first track on the album happens to be the first single released, "Modern Day Delilah" and with the hard drums, rocking guitar solos and Pauls high pitched vocals, there is no doubt this is KISS, ... ...Animal" and in my opinion the new kiss anthem "Stand", each one sounding differant but still providing a great classic Kiss sound.
"When Lightning Strikes" is new KISS guitarist Thommy Thayers vocal debut and he does a great job, sounding like a mix between Paul & Gene, and rocking a great tune.
Drummer Eric Singer also has a Vocal track on the album entitled "All for the Glory" again this is definately an anthem that was made for the live shows.

...been previous greatest hits albums, Mothership is the first time that all their most celebrated songs have been brought together to create this must own cd. For those who are yet to buy or hear any Led Zep, this would be a really fantastic place to start.
Every inch of this 24 track double CD collection pumps with instant classics. From the incredible opener of 'Good Times Bad Times', you can really feel the true rock 'n' roll, bluesy nature of ... ...- you only need to look as far as a comparison between 'Communication Breakdown' and 'Since I've Been Loving You' to see this clearly. Even though the second CD has the well known 'Kashmir', it is the first CD which stands out, having of course 'Stairway to Heaven', but also less well known but equally great songs such as 'Ramble On'. It goes without saying of course, that if you already own the Led Zep back cataloge, there is no reason why you need ...
Advantages: Fantastic songs, classic Wishbone Ash guitar work, good variety, clear sound quality. Disadvantages: Some songs carry a more simple and generic 'blues rock' feel...
This has to be one of my most played CDs by the mighty rock/prog/blues band Wishbone Ash.
However, with Wishbone Ash albums, I find it hard to avoid at least some kind of comparison with the magnificent Argus of 1972, which many will cite as being THE definitive Wishbone Ash album...
First thing to note, is that 2002's Bona Fide is not another Argus. However, the elements that made Argus so great - the beautiful melodies, the classic guitar harmonies, ... ...Bona Fide.
The opening track, 'Almighty Blues' perhaps gives the wrong impression to start with. You may well think 'it's blues rock, nothing special'. But then we come to the middle of the song, and find over 2 minutes of spectacular 'real Wishbone Ash' instrumental, with climbing guitar harmonies and rockin' solos. Perhaps there is more to this album than first appears!
It's true that tracks like 'Almighty Blues', 'Changing Tracks', and 'Shoulda, ...
Advantages: Lots of guitars, not too many effects. Disadvantages: A covers album. Original songs - better?
I was excited to hear about a new Aerosmith album being produced, and when I heard it was going to consist mainly of cover songs it did worry a bit.
However, I eventualy stumbled up on some 30 second sound samples of the tracks from the new album soon to be relseased - Honkin On Bobo. I wasn't too sure about a few of them, but I liked others (from the bits I had heard).
I don't have any problems with Just Push Play, as I like all Aerosmith eras, ... ...getting back to Aerosmith's bluesy rock from their earlier years of their career. The presentation of the album is excellent. An harmonica with lip stick on it is suggestive, yet it also looks quite classy with the red velvet backdrop. Meanwhile on the back of the booklet is a model with an harmonica down her jeans..suggestive! The booklet includes pictures of the band members and details of the songs and about who the band members thank.
As usual ...
Advantages: Includes the first 'hit' single 'Seven Seas of Rhye' Disadvantages: Honestly cannot think of any!
May's guitar rips into the first of many searing machine gun like chords that ricochet through this eponymous debut album. 'Keep Yoursef Alive', the band's first single, gets you well into the stride of things. 'Doing all right' takes the pace down a few notches and shows that the band have quite a degree of light and shade (a fact which becomes more apparent after the first 3 albums). Freddie penned the last two tracks on side 1 of this album. I ... ...at himself from the titles? ('Great King Rat' and 'My Fairy King').
Side 2 opens up with one of their best tracks ever for energy. 'Liar', I would guess, must have been one of their most pleasurable tracks ever to play live as the whole band seem to go at it hammer and tongs. Again, just when you think you have them sussed, the pace drops off for the almost aetherial 'The Night comes Down', but, hold on, it's foot on the pedal time again with 'Modern ...
