Advantages: The best of the New Romantics with some catchy 80's songs. Disadvantages: Some of the later songs not quite as good as eariler stuff
...heady pop mix. Greatest contains their hit singles from their first album Duran Duran though to the wedding ablum. Hits include Girls on film, hungry like the wolf, Rio,wild boys and ordinary world to name a few.They hold up surprsingly well with their catchy lyrics and Duran always were a classy pop band. Some of the later songs meet el presidente and skin trade were a bit patchy but ordinary world and come undone were great returns to form.

Great 1st new album from this wonderful band! It the first for the 5 of them since 1985. They have done some really good albums between then with various line-up. I bought the 2 disc album, which is really good. The dvd has the live show with some of the new songs on. MY only hate on this whole album is taste the summer. Advantages: Slick 80's pop Disadvantages: Not their best
..."No-no-notorious notorious" later sampled by Notorious BIG and Puff Daddy in 1999. The songs then eases into a slinky, faux-funk groove and is really one of the best tracks they've recorded. Typical Duran lyrics are abound with nods to "flakey bandits" and "boys making noise" and a great female "gasp" sample to add a little bit of tension to the tack. God knows what they're on about, but hold on kids, because it's a downhill ride from hereon in. ... ...the rest of the album is the tempo. Apart from a couple of upbeat tracks and a really slow one, the rest seem to find a balance somewhere in between and occupy that mid-tempo kind of groove that Oasis seemed to have settled for on their last two albums. This track, while not particularly bad, just doesn't affect me in the way their earlier stuff did. Remember the macho excitement of Wild Boys or the exoticism of Rio? Well, there's little of that ...

I have since wandered far from the mainstream in musical taste, but this was the first step away from that well-trodden path. Best listened to in a darkened room, headphones on and the volume up loud. Lie down, close your eyes, and really listen to the full depth of sound.

The first single from the album, with a tense dark feel. ... ...science fiction book I was reading at the time it came out - something to do with the half-heard snatches of voices in the background that dot this track. The voiceover in the middle is spoken by Grace Jones.

The weakest track, in my opinion. Unlike the others, this is not an above average song to start with, and even the production values cannot elevate it above that fact.

I bought this album because I am a big fan of Spandau Ballet and especially because it contained the song 'Through the Barricades'. This album was very nice to listen to and has some of Spandau Ballet's later songs. It has nine tracks and most were very good in my opinion.
