Arena
Review of Arena [Remastered] - Duran Duran by piggypine

Advantages: Some good tracks
Disadvantages: You don't get the feel of being there

...the time is Duran Duran. Arena is a selection of live recordings from the groups concerts and consist of tracks from 3 of the bands album releases "Duran Duran" "Rio" and "Seven & the ragged tiger" the only albums the group had released before Arena was put together. It also features the new track, or at least it was new at the time of release back in '84, "wild boys" The track listing is as follows- 1-Is there something I should know 2-Hungry ...
...6-The seventh stranger 7-The chauffer 8-Union of the snake 9-Planet earth 10-Careless memories Unfortunately despite the album being recorded live it is not compiled in the order of a live concert and tracks appear as separate recordings, this somewhat breaks up the flow of the album and prevents you getting the feeling of having "been there" which I think is essential in a live album. "Talking drum" follows in a similar vein: Steve Jansen's extraordinarily tight and original drumming punctuated by Mick Karn's snaking bass lines and some very Chinese sounding keyboard treatments from Richard Baribieri. The tempo drops here. "Ghosts" was the ... Read review

Metamatic Remastered
Review of Metamatic... Plus [Remastered] - John Foxx by ilaskey

Advantages: Classic electro album, remastering adds a real boost
Disadvantages: None

Metamatic was the first solo outing from John Foxx after he split with Ultravox! Ultravox! went on to rather greater fame with the replacement lead singer, some Midge Ure guy but for Ultravox! fans, John Foxx was the real deal. Metamatic deals with many themes and obsessions such as car crashes, Europe, relationships and too much J G Ballard and Philip K Dick which were bounc
