The flute is excellent
Advantages: Agressive lyrics, food for thought Disadvantages: The audio quality
Initially I got hold of a vinyl of this album and during the upgrade period it was the third album to be added to my CD collections and I’m very proud to own it.
Named after 18th century agriculturist, Jethro Tull came into existence in 1967 led by Ian Anderson. Basically from Blackpool & Luton, Great Britain. With typical flute work of Ian Anderson, they made the cross lead of guitar and flute their forte. Guitarist Martin Barre became a part of ... ...Ohara and Doane Parry. Drummer Bunker left the group after “Aqualung” was released. However their first foray “Sunshine Day” into the international scene was massive fiasco. But in 1971 Jethro Tull’s best ever work “Aqualung” was released but Ian Andersson’s lyrics became quite controversial because of his unadulterated statement on religion and society. But they undoubtedly cut out their niché with the magical flute of Ian Anderson and nervous but ...

SCORE - A great purchase
Advantages: Technically advanced, melodic, powerful, well produced Disadvantages: No CD Inlay (Small pickup)
This late 2006 release follows in the footsteps of Metallica (S&M).
The Digipak contains 3 discs. Disc 1 is just the band, Disc 2&3 includes the Octavarium Orchestra.
I would recommend this album based on the following-
- It is technically advanced
- Great melodies and harmonies
- A slightly different apporach to Progressive Metal - using complex rhythms and melodies, with an Orchestra.
The pack does not come with a CD inlay/cover which I found ... ...This is only a minor pickup however - the music is brilliant.
John Petrucci peforms well throughout the album - varying his guitar solos slightly (improvisation).
Innocence Faded (Disc 1 Track 6) brings back the old school Dream Theater sound that never gets boring.
The epic track Octavarium on Disc 3 - 27 minutes long. This is quite possibly the best track in the Digipak.
If you are a progressive metal/rock fan, or enjoy complex and technical ...

Unbeatable
Advantages: Some of the most creatively emotional music ever to grace the world Disadvantages: Tails off a little towards the end
...mocking self-derision. I chose Beat because it is one of those albums that tastes change with, feelings move with. OK, it hasn’t changed my life but how many artefacts can truly be said to have changed someone’s life. Then when people claim so, how many people are not lost in an act of sublime self-delusion?
But then, maybe I’m just a (young) cynic. But to return to the point, Beat was the culmination of patient listening. Like so many others I ... ...Then I bought Beat and from the first moment I thought: I like this album. Now with almost all Crimson albums I have (and I have all the studio albums if not the myriad live recordings available) it takes a listen to two or get into the album, to feel at ease with the music. I shall explain. Crimson is a band that does not have a uniform sound beyond the fact that they will not guarantee you an easy listen. Crimson uses the musical vernacular and ...

Not quite on the Boyle
Advantages: A nice album from a lady who has provided global inspiration Disadvantages: Heard it all before, I'm afraid
...and I'm as surprised as I was the first time I heard her sing that I am the first reviewer of it. Such is the impact that SuBo has had internationally, and the diverse opinions that she has created, I thought there would be numerous reviews on the 'Love her or Hate her' recording artist. I am neither of these, incidentally, I think I'm more of a SuBo-skeptic.
It cannot be argued that she must be one of, if not the, best known women on the planet. ... ...know her, and groan when I mention her name. She has certainly divided the globe.
When I first saw her on Britain's Got Talent, I was shocked, and the genuinity of the expressions of the judges adds to her appeal. I must confess my own ignorance by confirming that I had never heard the song 'I Dreamed a Dream' before. The nearest I get to musicals is when I sing in the shower. It has, all of a sudden, become as known worldwide as the woman herself.

No-Man - Beautiful songs you should know
Advantages: Great, accessible introduction to the band Disadvantages: none
...Their 6th official studio album Schoolyard Ghosts was released in May 2008, and took a week to leave the player. It's an infectious, beautiful work from an occasional collaboration that has consistently brought us a skilful combination of chill and chill-out for almost two decades. As with any band, there are echoes from previous releases here, I can hear some references from Carolina Skeletons and All That You Are (both from the Returning Jesus ... ...this album is definitely moving forwards. There's a depth of self-assurance coming out of these songs that I haven't heard in the previous releases, but that doesn't mean that they've rested on their laurels. Listening to the surround version on the accompanying DVDA, the layering of sounds envelops you, it's absolutely absorbing to shut your eyes and try to hear everything that's going on around you. Lyrically, life gets picked over with Tim Bowness' ...
