Debut full of passion…
Advantages: Passionate debut Disadvantages: nothin' comes to mind
The first time I came across Patti Smith was on the B.B.C. 2 music show “The Old Grey Whistle Test”, I can’t remember the year but I think it was round the middle of the 70’s.
I remember she was strangely dressed for being on stage, wearing a big coat and hat on stage. I thought strange what’s all this about and then she proceeded to perform the track “Land” which is in 3 parts, horses, land of a 1,000 dances ... ...the all out assault on the senses that Ms Smith performed.
The performance that I witnessed was incredible; she was jumping up and down, throwing herself around the floor and this was for the full length of the song and runs at nearly 10 minutes long.
After watching this on T.V. I thought to myself I got to get a copy of this album, the next I preceded to my nearest “music emporium”, I asked the shop assistant if they had this title ...

The Clash, The Singles review
Advantages: Plenty of great tunes to keep you listening Disadvantages: Obvious lack of some classics that weren't singles
This is a great compilation that charts the development and journey of the Clash from their early days as hedonistic punks, to their later days of commercial success in the US.
There are loads of great tunes on this album, and one can but wonder why none of them were UK Top Ten Hits during the band's lifetime. All the key phases of The Clash are represented here, and this CD, with its wide range of genre-spanning tracks is a great testiment to the ... ...an avowed Clash fan, you probably own several Clash CDs already, and therefore perhaps you may find this album an unneccesary addition to your collection. Also, to get a true reflection of the Clash, one must also consider the quality of many album-only tracks which aren't featured on this compliation for obvious reasons. This does not detract from what a great album this is, with the ability to appeal to a wide and diverse audience. ...

Green Day
Advantages: early recordings Disadvantages: none
This is Green Days earliest collection of recordings. I particularly love this offering because it showcases the early works of green day this was release in 1991 and then re-released. This album has 19 songs to offer my favorite song of this album is disappearing boy this album is a treasure to all Green Day fans and all fans of the early punk pop era. I thoroughly enjoy this album and the nostalgia that comes with this. However this album may not ...

Classy Clash.
Advantages: Some iconic stuff here. Disadvantages: Couple of weak tracks.
...(Siouxsie). Basically it is the story of a mixed race Vietnamese child trying to get to America. Thrown into this mix is the decimation of Northern England steel foundries, 'junkiedom USA'. It is a depressing song yes, but also brilliant in it's insight, 'There aint no asylum here', how contemporary that was and prophetic. This is lyrically and politically quite stunning as a song.
'Clear as winter ice, this is your paradise "there aint no need ... ...hell boy'. (the steel), followed by "Let me tell you about your blood kid, it aint Coca Cola, it's rice", to the Vietnamese child. So harsh, so raw. 10/10.

A punked up version of the Junior Marvin song, bloomin' fantastic, the echo on the lead guitar is just the business. How they manage to turn this song into what it becomes is sheer brilliance. If you heard this before Junior Marvin's original you would say that ...

The Clash
Advantages: THE CLASH! Punk Rock Brilliance. Disadvantages: None
If you don't know who The Clash are, what have you been doing!?
The Clash compromises of :
Joe Strummer : Legend on vocals and guitar
Mick Jones : Talented guitarist on vocals also.
Paul Simonon : Sometimes shares vocals and bass player.
Topper Headon : Drummer (and a good drummer at that!).
This album was their second after their unbelievable self titled breakthrough. This carries on what they had already started, but improves.
1) Safe European ... ...opener and is laced with catchy guitaring and Strummer handles the vocals superb, with his scratchy bark of a vocal. It all breaks down towards the end, only to be lifted back up again. An all time Clash song which deserves to be heard by everone.
2) English Civil War : This was a single and upon first listen i didn't really click with it, although it's obvious why people find this a great song. Now i love this and the vocals are again a strong ...
