Back to Black
Review of Back To Black - Amy Winehouse by whit28

Advantages: Music you can play over and over again
Disadvantages: People might get upset because you play it so much

I first heard about the Amy Winehouse CD at work in Canada. My coworker let be borrow it and I found it different and refreshing. I couldn't stop playing it. My coworker had to ask for it back. I had planned a trip to visit my family in England. When going to the shops with my sister she turned on her CD and it was Amy. We had a laugh because we were both nuts over the CD. My sister had also seen Amy at a concert in Liverpool. She has an amazing ... Read review

Its A Wonderful Night For A Moondance
Review of Moondance - Van Morrison by andrew156

Advantages: Great Singing
Disadvantages: Rubbish cover

This is a unmistakenbly legend of an album and it goes without saying by a legendery figurehead of music. The obvious song which first snaches your eyes is the remarkable "Moondance". It needs no influences and it needs no introdction. This is Van Morrisson at his very best. The album itself if you are deprived enough not to have listened to it consists of 10 astounding songs. Light, soulful and lively it begins with a great song in "And It Stoned ...
...and again in "Moondance" he has furthered this point. It is soft rock, folk, pop, soul and jazz all bundelled into one brilliant unmissable album. I can't imagine it costs particulary much and it should be available at any music shop(at least any with much sense)! A must. Just ignore the cover. ... Read review

BACK TO BEDLAM.
Review of Back To Bedlam - James Blunt by Morning_Becomes_Electra

Advantages: A fine album with great lyrical content.
Disadvantages: All ballads.

...out to run off the back of this one. Careful lyrical content and a love of his craft makes this an album of excellence and not one track let the album down as a whole. I think James Blunt takes a lot of stick. I'm not too sure why. Perhaps it is seen as 'not cool' to admit to liking him. Whatever, I definitely recommend this album if you like honesty and truth from your lyrics. The musical arrangements are quite understated, allowing the lyrical ... Read review

Modern jazz/soul classic, is Amy
Review of Frank - Amy Winehouse by paulhanton

Advantages: Very cool, majority of tracks outstanding
Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste

Amy Winehouse seems to be in the news a lot, for her well published issues with drink and drugs, her husband and her 'antics'. I have to say that I was not initially impressed with her music. Then someone suggested I listen to 'Moody's Mood For Love'. I loved it, I will talk a bit more about it later on, suffice to say, in my opinion it is a modern Jazz classic. I have now bought the album on i-tunes. This was her first album, before all the 'rehab' ...
...1. Intro/Stronger Than Me -------------------------------------------- Quite a strong start, very smokey, bit 'angsty', she does not really sound like any other artist that comes to mind, maybe an octave higher than Billie Holliday. 2. You Sent Me Flying Interesting, eclectic mix of instrumental (bit long), sultry vocals and a bit of Bossa Nova, bit long, not the best track on the album. 3. Know You Know Loveley, funky, soul jazz combo, Simon ... Read review

ALL THE LOST SOULS.
Review of All The Lost Souls [ECD] - James Blunt by Morning_Becomes_Electra

Advantages: An album worth owning, though not his strongest.
Disadvantages: A couple of really forgettable tracks.

---JAMES BLUNT- All THE LOST SOULS--- After a three year gap Ex Army Captain, James Blunt brought out his long awaited second album 'All the Lost Souls' in September 2007. This was the follow up to his hugely successful debut album 'Back to Bedlam' which came out in 2004. James Blunt was a refreshing change on the music scene and he was to music in 2004, what Damien Rice was in 2003. James Blunt has his own unique style of Folk/Rock. He is a balladeer ...
...to my dismay. Airplay is all important, and if you are not flavour of the month, it can make or break an artist's release... I wasn't quite sure if I liked Blunts single,'1973'when I first heard it and was I worried that the album would not live up to his excellent first album, 'Back to Bedlam'. The track '1973' was a nostalgic ditty and one I found didn't sit well, nor did I believe in, as James Blunt himself was not even born then. Nonetheless ... Read review
