When I saw the film "The Rock", the thing which stuck in my mind was the music. I went out and bought the (frankly very expensive) import CD of the score from HMV, because at the time it wasn't released in the UK. It was worth every penny, though - I like Hans Zimmer, and this score doesn't disappoint.
If you already have other Zimmer scores (The Peacemaker, Broken Arrow etc.) then you will know what to expect. The music is very powerful - definately not the thing for relaxation. I once saw a review which said that Hans Zimmer uses every instrument as percussion, and that applies here.
It may not be Beethoven, but it has remained a firm favourite of mine for a few years now, and is one of the few CDs which I listen to regularly.

Actually Hans Zimmer contributed only two themes. He was working with his Media Ventures buddies Nick Glennie-Smith, Harry Gregson-Williams and James Newton Howard. A fine soundtrack still, although poorly mixed.
Advantages: It is a differnt type of music, it really makes you move. Great use of electric guitars. Disadvantages: The Video extra is just sooo boring
