Rock n Roll was Motorhead's 8th album and it came out in 1988, ten years after the band's inception. The album didn't too particularly that well commercially and while a few of the tracks sound similar in what is a typically fast-paced Motorhead trademark sound there are some absoulte corkers.

My personal favourite is the track"Eat the Rich" which was written to be used in the film of the same name, one I can't boast to have seen unfortunately. The track itself is a classic though, pounding it's way through the lyrics "Come on Baby, Eat the Rich, Put the bite on the son of a bitch" and entertaining food lyrics like
"Sitting here in the restaurant Tell the waiter just what you want Is that the meat you wanted to eat? How would you ever know? Hash browns and bacon strips I like the way that you lick your lips No foolin' I can see you droolin' Feel the hunger grow"
which shouldn't work but does some how! Other good songs on this album is Stone Deaf in the USA and Blackheart, Michael Palin is featured in the former as he recites a sermon. Heavy metal artist Joe Petagno designed the cover and wanted the tongue to go up, the band wanted it to go down and Petagno has joked that this is the reason the CD did not sell as well as it could have!
Advantages: It's Motorhead - it doesn't get any better than this! Disadvantages: silly question!
Over 30 years down the line and still Motorhead and the legendary Lemmy rumble on, producing new music that continues to be among the hardest, rawest and most influential rock music around. Lemmy now famously opens every live gig with the words "We are Motorhead - and we play rock'n'roll". Well, yes... it isn't Elvis or Jerry Lee or what have you, but yes it is still rock'n'roll, with a Motorhead twist. A lot of fans are still stuck in the past with Lemmy and co, and still hark back to the days of the so called classic line up of Lemmy, Eddie Clarke, and Phil Taylor. That was well over 20 years ago. This current line up has been together now since around 1991 and guitarist Phil Campbell has actually been there since 1984, and I'd say THIS is the classic line up, as this album (as well as it's predecessor "Sacrifice" more than prove it ...
Advantages: Rocky, thrashy, energetic,b est of all their albums ever! Each song rocks more than the last! Disadvantages: None really, unless you dont like the genre of music.
So who hasn't got a fitted Topshop/Topman style Motorhead Tee nowadays? Hardly rocknroll to is it? I wonder how many of those guys actually listen to Motorhead? I doubt many which is a real shame because albums like this (Overkill) are a real jem amongst the crap rock that wont stand the test of time. The band are made up of Lemmy (bass and vocals), "Fast" Eddie Clarke (guitar), and "Philthy Animal" Taylor (drums) .
This is Motörhead's second album and it showed a massive progression for the band. The chnage paid off because fans consider this to be their best album (and they have had tons)-superceding the Ace of Spaces!
Vocals on this album are gruff and heavy and you really can pick Lemmy's voice out from millions of others. Shame that people only seem to know The Ace Of Spades as this band have produced so many other great ...
Advantages: It's another great Motorhead album Disadvantages: None
33 years on, and Motorhead are still playing what Lemmy calls 'rock'n'roll'. That it most certainly is, and there's no sign of these 3 middle aged erm... 'gentlemen' slowing down or compromising on their particular brand of rock music. This is another classic slab of modern day Motorhead, with this line up now having been togther almost 2 full decades they know exactly how to make a Motorhead record. Surprisingly this time out there are no full on ballads although there are the odd melodic moments... calm before the storm sort of thing. It's not their best album, but it is a good one. It doesn't outstay it's welcome - no filler here, just 11 songs and just shy of 40 minutes.
OK, the songs now.... track 1 is Runaround Man - pure rock'n'rollMotorhead style and a possible concert opener (I hope!)
Track 2 - Teach You How To Sing ...
