Catchy rock n roll with various styles

Advantages: Fun music, fun lyrics
Disadvantages: A bit rude

Rock N Roll Cleopatra is a compilation album of some of Wayne/Jayne County's finest tracks. The album tends to focus on Wayne County pre-sex change years and full conversion to Jayne. Wayne was an interesting chap who took part in the famous Stonewall Inn riots, was an influential figure on Daid Bowie's Diamond Dogs tour and album, was an integral part of the early punk rock scene and worked as a DJ at CBGB's. O Often seen as a bit of a novelty act, I think that Wayne County & The Electric Chairs were highly under-rated and this album churns out enjoyable track after track often in various styles. The album shows a great range of styles, emotions and most of all in a light-hearted enjoyable humurous albeit somewhat crass way. The King of Rock 'N Roll?

Advantages: Great head banging action to be had!
Disadvantages: Some tracks a bit repetitive

and egotistical lyrics make this song memorable and endurable, with some interesting sound effects added in for good measure. 'Roller' is another hard hitting track boasting a very active drum beat, provided by HIM's lead singer, Ville Valo. Straight forward and to the point. A perfect second track. 'Dope Danny' takes the listener on a journey from the life of a drug addict (hence the title). A little distorted for a creepy effect, this one won't win any awards for lyrics but is damn sure entertaining! Next is 'Never Been In Love (till the day I die)'. Not much to the words here but boasts a very good, hard rock feel here; great for head banging! Perhaps a little too similar to 'The King of Rock 'N Roll'. 'Eldorado Baby' is a hypnotic, blues type track with haunting yet honest vocals. One of my favourites from here. 'Lonely Road ...

Rock,N,Roll IS king....but not on this album

Advantages: Supose it would be ok for background music
Disadvantages: Not the all time greats one would expect

Not a great fan of these albums in the slightest. I can be over critical where music is concerned as it is my main hobby and has been since i was around five. I am an avid collector of vinyls and cd's and love everything and anything from 1942 to present day....but i would give this album a miss. If you go into some of the old time market halls and you are lucky enough (or unlucky enough, depends which way you look at it) to have a cd stall, you can find albums like this one. They are produced using the original group's recordings that was probably recorded a long time after they actualy had a hit with it, thats how you can pick these albums up for a few quid.
