...to him who are essentially rock fans and are unsure of him as alot of his other albums are more folk/country/alt/singer-songwriterish and so maybe not the best for them. This rock n roll album is truely exceptional and shows his complete and utter talent. Its also a kind of grunge sound in places which I love in being a Nirvana fan but the whole album is truly awesome. For those of you who like folk/songwriterish songs and love artists like Damien ... ...To Self: Don't Die

Advantages: Ryan at his best Disadvantages: There's an Oasis track on the album
...The genius that is RyanAdams has gone back to what he knows best on this album. Heartbreaks, tales of lost love and friendships ended.
This is the album that RyanAdams wanted to release originally in 2004, but his record company made him record and release the throwaway yet un-missable Rock 'n' Roll.
What were those people on??
While I am glad that Rock 'n' Roll was released, as it is another RyanAdams record for my collection, it really is hard to understand why "Love is Hell" was not released originally as Adams wanted?
He did get his own way in the end though. Love is Hell was released shortly after Rock 'n' Roll as two seperate albums and later put together as one as its popularity grew.

Additional notes
Album Notes: As the album's title indicates, this is Ryan Adams' full-on rock outing. Here the former Whiskeytown leader/enfant terrible eschews all twang in favor of indulging his alt-rock id, and the result is a whirlwind tour through rock & roll history as filtered through his trademark swagger. Adams wears his influences brazenly, like patches sewn on his jean jacket, from the T-Rex stomp of "Shallow" to the snotty Nirvana/Smashing Pumpkins hybrid of "Note to Self: Don't Die" to a number of Replacements-influenced tracks, including "This Is It" and "Do Miss America." Ever the contrarian, Adams leaves the only truly subdued song on ROCK N ROLL for the title track, a move which nods towards the melancholy pop of his simultaneous release, LOVE IS HELL PART 1.
