...genre more popular than its been for a long while.
Kate Rusby was born and raised in Yorkshire, and whilst I’ve not yet seen her perform I’ve heard an interview with her on the radio and read a couple of articles about her in the Sunday supplements, and she comes across as a real character. She’s a Barnsley girl and very, very proud of it. She still lives there, maintains that she’ll never leave, and has a broad and rich Yorkshire accent in which she sings everything, including scottish and irish ballads.
Kate is the daughter of two well known folk singers in their own right. They had a ceilidh band, in which she apparently played fiddle by the age of five or twelve depending upon which reviews you read and went on to study drama at barnsley college where, with a childhood friend, Kathryn Roberts she formed a band...

Advantages: Part 2 of a great group's career Disadvantages: Inconsistent - a few also-rans
...Queen had come, seen and conquered the musical landscape by 1981 so comprehensively that they had set themselves a hard standard to live up to. All the same, "Under Pressure", the result of a spontaneous studio...

Advantages: Insanely varied, with different genres, awesome Disadvantages: none
...This was the first album that Thin Lizzy made to set them apart from the other rock bands of the moment. It was definately seen as a risk as they included different influences in their songs, beit folk or rhythm and blues. The front cover was also a strange addition to the album, the producer was also a bit concerned by it as it made the band look like metal thugs with thier weapons. To fans it didn't matter, because Lizzy were sure to bring out some music different to the rest.
This is where Thin Lizzy really came into their own, they had finally found their own sound with the dualing guitars of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. This would be the start of something good for Thin Lizzy, with the next album, Jailbreak becoming a hit.
The album starts with, 'Rosalie', the favourite song on the album for most fans. It has that something...
