Rod Stewart
A new very frank and revealing biography of rock's most enduring legend. Rod Stewart will ... more
be 60 in less than two years' time - yet his popularity (and his determination to continue living the rock-star life to the full) is undimmed by the passing years. Since turning 50 life has been as turbulent as ever for him; marriage to Rachel two children divorce a serious cancer scare more albums released and concerts given singing for the Queen at the Jubilee concert - and naturally a new blonde on his arm Penny Lancaster. Tim Ewbank and Stafford Hildred have been tracking Rod's life for many years right from the early days of the Faces. For this book they have spoken to many of the most important influences in his life including past loves like Bebe Ruell Britt Ekland and Rachel Hunter. This new book is the most complete and intimate account of the life and career of the ultimate rock-star.
Human - Rod Stewart
If Rod Stewart's ongoing sense of musical curiosity was confirmed by his surprising ... more
collection of 1990s rock covers (When We Were the New Boys), Human seems more bent on career reinforcement. Helmed by executive producer Rob Dickins, a lineup of production pros (including Mark Taylor and Brian Rawlings, the team behind Cher's Believe) keeps the sound polished, yet warm and spacious. Stewart takes on a mature, reflective slate of songs by an array of contemporary writers (including Macy Gray) and a strong cover of Curtis Mayfield's "It Was Love That We Needed". The album also features a handful of guest stars (including guitarists Slash and Mark Knopfler) and a surprising, playful duet with contemporary stylist/Dickins protégé Helicopter Girl on "Don't Come Around Here". Human proves, once again, that Rod Stewart may yet have the last laugh on those who have accused him of selling out one of rock's great vocal talents. --Jerry McCulley

Rod Stewart…..30 Years Of Memories!!!
It was July 1971 that Rod hit No.1 with Maggie May, and he has gone on to turn out hit after hit in the thirty years after.
I remember the first time I heard Maggie May, I was in Glasgow at the time training with my first job. I was staying in a bed & breakfast and I turned on the television to watch “Top of the Pops” when this guy came on with a long scarf and feathered hair. He had a long stand up microphone, which he held in the one spot then strutted across the stage with it. He was just brilliant and with that single Rod Stewart had arrived on the pop scene .
Of course that feathered hair cut was to be copied by everyone in the latter part of 1971, that and the Ziggy cut of David Bowie. Rod released an album that year as well called “Every Picture Tells a Story” which had Maggie May on it but it also had this brilliant track called Reason to Believe. It is one of my favourite all time album tracks.
I have memories of Rod Stewart singles running through my life but one of them was “I don’t want to talk about it”, released on the album Atlantic Crossing in the summer of 1975. This I have to say is my all time favourite album by Mr Stewart. The album has sad memories of a girl that was not to be, and a good friend who went out with her behind my back..
Anyway he continued to release hit after hit and another classic was “The killing of Georgie” from the album A Night on the Town. He had so many hits I just don’t feel the need to type them all out.
Everyone must have at least one Rod single that reminds them of something in their life, he’s a legend in the world of pop and lets not forget his time with “The Faces” as well. Then the hit single he had under the name “Python Lee Jackson”
Off course don’t forget all the women Rod has been seen with, like in 1975 when he was dating Britt Ekland. God was I jealous of Rod back then, Britt was such a babe!!
Even today you see Rod in the papers with some blonde on a hot beach, wearing trendy gear that he certainly wouldn’t get away with wearing in the estate I live on. But you expect that from Rod, you see a bit of yourself in him, a bit of you that would love to be soaking it up on a hot beach with a nice young thing. And if she’s only after your millions then so what!!
Then you have his love of football, Celtic and Scotland. This also makes him more popular with the average person on the street, because he is still mainly the same Scottish guy that he was before he became so big. He has just had an album out called “Human”. It’s not classic Rod Stewart but it’s a nice album and goes to prove that even after 30 years and health problems with his throat he can still do it.
In conclusion I have to say I like Rod Stewart, In 30 years he has set high standards and made so many great tracks, too many to go through. I have to say for his age he looks fit and hasn’t lost any of his charm. My favourite three tracks are, Reason to Believe, I don’t want to talk about it and The Killing of Georgie, mainly because they bring back both sad and happy memories. And I know you will be saying that one should move on and not look back but a bit of reflection does no harm. Don’t you agree?
Anyway I would be interested in hearing if you have any favourite Rod songs, and thanks for your read. Yet again take care, your friend online……
Advantages: All the very best on one cd. Disadvantages: none
...This is the only RodStewart cd that i own. All of his best songs are here. I particularly wanted the track = Rhythm of my heart, as its been a favourite of mine for a long time. Having listened to both cd,s i find myself liking everything about it. I bought it used from ebay and at a very reasonable price, especially for a double cd. As he now seems to be singing the old crooner type of songs i don,t expect to be buying any more, definately not my thing, even though i love his voice, i really dont like the " sinatra " stuff. The days of " Maggie May " when he was a bit of a rocker, is much more my thing. he says = Do you think i,m sexy. well in my opinion yes, yes , yes. like a lot of singers he gets better with age. If you are looking for a good rounded selection of Rod,s best song,s , then you need look no further....

Advantages: Spans most of his popular songs before becoming a "soothie" Disadvantages: none really
...Must admit, liked a lot of Rods stuff ever since Maggie May, but never actually bought many as the hit records came along, and must again admit, went off him in later years when he started covering Sinatra style stuff (crooning, I believe?), but when this came along, it wasnt just a case of buying a "Greatest Hits", more like a compilation of the best of his upbeat records and slower stuff like "sailing", hence both discs being named "A night out" and "A night in", if thats right, but its something like that, and it more than describes accurately summing each disc, as they are well graded to the mood you are in as to which you would probably play. Tracks speak for themselves, all enjoyable to either dance, feel happy listening to, or just kicking back and relaxing, and not badly priced for a double disc with so many track, can heartily...
