Advantages: great bunch of JT's finest Disadvantages: could have been a doubler
...I bought the Jethro Tull ‘Original Masters’ CD (single CD) just before Xmas’00 and it has been a regular feature on my car CD multiplayer ever since in between Lauren Hill, David Gray and Coldplay. It can be picked up for less than a tenner from HMV or FreeServe Audiostreet (postage free).
Bit of a blast from the past you might say. As I was a JT fan as a very young teenager – no really I was. I had a strange but 70’s unashamedly eclectic taste for JT, T-Rex, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Genesis, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Jeffersons Aeroplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Lindisfarne, Joni Mitchell…..oh yes and Slade and Mungo Jerry would you beleieve…..it all comes rushing back like a seventies ‘technicolor replay’. Advantages: Good sounds, Brilliant Lyrics Disadvantages: Some of the tracks have a similar sound
...The Fray are a four-piece from Denver. They sold over 5million records in the US and had to put forward their release dates for the UK. Now they are well and truly established, with sold-out shows to prove it.
The actual music on the CD is of a high quality. Tracks like How to Save a Life and Over my head(cable car) can be listened to over and over again without ever feeling overplayed.
They combine guitar with piano to create an easy to listen to rock sound. The vocal performance is brilliant (Issac Slade) and the songs are very well written, with many being able to relate to the actual lyrics as well as the sound. A downside is that each song is vaguely similar to all the others on the album, but this doesnt decrease the sheer quality of the music. A good buy if your looking for a relaxing yet fufilling sound....

Advantages: Takes you back to your mis-spent youth Disadvantages: So many other hits had to be left off

If you remember the Seventies and feel like wallowing in a bit of nostalgia this is the album for you. (If you’re too young to remember, this is what you missed!)
This 3-CD compilation from Readers' Digest has many of the hits of the time. CD 1 is entitled “Blockbuster”, CD2 “Forever And Ever” and CD3 “Dynamite”. There are hits from stars such as Mott the Hoople, Sweet, Suzi Quatro and Slade.Suzi was known as the First Lady of glam rock and her diminutive appearance belied her raunchy performances. On this album we are treated to Can the Can, Fever, The Wild One and Ain’t Ya Somethin’ Honey. Slade, originally called The ‘N’ Betweens, were probably the era’s most commercial...
