Advantages: Fantastic Story, Classical work Disadvantages: The language is a little staid at times
of the D?Urbervilles? that caught the public imagination and are still read in vast numbers today.

Far from the Madding Crowd is set in rural 19thcentury England. Based in Wessex, the story is established in and around the south of England approximating to the New Forest region of Hampshire in the main. Gabriel Oak is a shepherd who has made his own way in the world. Having built up his own flock based on hard work and a soon to be paid loan, he is doing well as a reputed expert in his trade. On a particularly unremarkable day, he encounters the beautiful and daring Bathsheba Everdean. Headstrong and flamboyant, Bashsheba saves Oak from suffocating in his Shepherd?s tent triggering a longing for ?..The young girl with the remarkably pleasant lips and white teeth?. Before long, Gabriel asks for Bathsheba ...
Advantages: Interesting story, captures the era in which it is set Disadvantages: Slow paced, drawn out in places
I was tricked into watching The Illusionist, if you pardon the pun. A friend had recently acquired it on DVD and I had been subjected to his enthusiastic raves regarding how good this film was. As someone who is not particularly up to speed on films I hadn't actually heard anything about this film before, but I agreed to borrow it and last night I finally got the chance to sit down and watch it.
The film is set in Vienna during the 19thcentury and tells the story of an illusionist that goes by the name of Eisenheim. During the opening scene of the film we see Eisenheim on a theatre stage, in an almost trance like state. Suddenly there is chaos and dozens of policemen storm the stage, uttering the words; "Eisenheim, we are arresting you for outraging public decency". Advantages: Very good new product for intercontinental flights, good service to premium passengers, nice lounges. Disadvantages: Terrible meals, small seat pitch in Economy, rather unfriendly staff in Economy, outdated service philosophy, wrong strategies.
Service ? 19thCentury Attitude
British Airways seem to divide their customers into upper and working class. As an Economy Class passenger without Executive Class status, you are often treated as a second class citizen. You will find it hard to receive any special attention and will be moved around like cattle. BA staff seem to have a problem with a friendly smile. It is either non existent, or of the frozen, false kind. And just too often I have found BA flight attendants in the Economy cabin lecturing me instead of serving me.
Things change dramatically, however, once you fly Business Class or have a silver or gold Executive Club tag attached to your hand luggage. In the one year I was a silver status member, British Airways fulfilled almost all my wishes. The special hotline for status ...
