I am naturally a fan of Mcfly's work (what 18 year old girl could resist these four cheeky guys). After seeing them live at the Busted tour in early spring I was eagerly anticipating their debut album.
To be honest, I was prefectly shocked when I found that most of my friends at college had bought this album before I had and were praising it so highly. That's when i knew that this album would not be coping the likes of Busted, who my friends hate (much to my protest).
Mcfly's album mixes both up tempo melodies with slow reflective songs. I can see the heavy influence of the 60's pop legends, ranging from The Beatles to The Beach Boys. My favourite songs were 'That Girl' and 'Surfer Babe', which would definitely get any party in full swing with their 60's surfer guitar rifts.
Mcfly also show their softer side with such songs as 'She left me' and 'Not alone', which shows that these boys can not only get you dancing but they can pull at your heart strings too.
I would recommend this album as a essential for any person that loves the different sounds of the sixties or who has enjoyed the past releases from those Mcfly boys!
