It's been a year or two..since we last heard from the Canadian god of slow rock, and this new offering comes at an awkward time for older artists attempting to make a comeback. But I think Adams' latest arrival is set to bounce him back into the hearts of those who adore his tender lyrics and inner-touching love-songs.

This latest deliverance is trademark Adams, it has his signature style written all over it. You would be forgiven for thinking that Room Service is just a more recent update of his usual mood-moving stuff. In some ways you'd be right. The ballads are still there, as is the accoustic/folk sounding guitar melodies. But it's mostly the lyrics that hint of the old, accustomed favourites such as Everything I Do, Please Forgive Me and more recently Baby When You're Gone. This last track was an experimental collaboration with ex- Spice Girl/ Solo wannabe, Mel C. They carried it off well as a duet, although I got the feeling Adams' was trying to break boundaries of his style by doing something a bit more modern than his usual early 90's rock ballads.

However, this latest release also beggars belief that the Canadian rocker still has some original inclusions to be heard.

The release of the new single Open Road, seems to suggest that Adams is back in his prime. He appears to be going back to his roots, and the inspiration behind this seems to stem from his experience.

There are still some ballads on this latest infusion. They appear between the "happy songs" on the album, those you would define as Adams' uplifting effigys we have all grown so accustomed to. Those that are going to turn you into a mushy and reminiscent teenager are: She's a Little Too Good For Me, Flying and Why Do You Have to be So Hard to Love? All three are the intended effect Adams conjures up with his music. Reminiscent of love lost and hopeless abandonment. Great for nights when you want to relax and think back.

On the plus side there really are some great up-lifting inclusions on this album. East Side Story has similarities to When You're Gone, it's an upbeat, tempo track that seems to defy the need for the weepy tracks here. It's more angst than hankies. This is Adams at his best, blasting out true feeling through a classic rock track, as he is so renowned for. Room Service, the track after which the album is named is also a catchy, temperamental kind of song, and again Adams' lyrics convey the mood of the entire song.

Track listing:
1. East Side Story
2. This Side Of Paradise
3. Not Romeo Not Juliet
4. Flying
5. She's A Little Too Good For Me
6. Open Road
7. Room Service
8. I Was Only Dreamin'
9. Right Back Where I Started From
10. Nowhere Fast
11. Why Do You Have To Be So Hard To Love
12. Blessing In Disguise

All in all, Bryan Adams has given us another mood-altering album, charting his highs and lows on the roads through his own personal accounts, and some great love-songs too.
If you liked his previous stuff this is a must, although many say they can't identify with Adams' songs for whatever reason, I urge you to give this a go, it's a rollercoaster of emotion packed with classic Bryan Adams talent and accoustic melody that's sure to evoke memories and feelings within the hardest of you out there!

And I picked mine up for £9.99 :)
