Advantages: Some very decent pop-rock tracks Disadvantages: The ballads need a little more work

When the album arrived, the sticker on the front filled with effusive praise from all the music magazines seemed only to strengthen by feeling that I'd made the correct choice. ... ...My first taste of Rooster is the blues tinged pop-rock intro to "Joyride". There's a distinct boy band feel to the vocals, which have the same rough edge as Charlie's from Busted, but the underlying music has more of a rock influence than their music did. There's still a pop influence, but this is definitely pop-rock, a step on from Busted, although not quite reaching proper rock music. The intro to "Come Get Some" has a slightly funkier edge to ...

...received a sudden e-mail from rooster official.com, promoting the bands new site to me in the hope that I’d check it out, lucky or what eh. The accompanying track to the site, ‘Come Get Some’, instantly reminded me of that radio experience a few months past, leaving me with the sense that I could now explore the guys further in hope of hearing further material. Frequent returns to the site yielded nothing in news of an album or any further material, ... ...as Jimmy Eat World, although Rooster have a much more accessible feel to their sound. Debut single ‘Come Get Some’ is something of the ugly duckling, the odd one out on an album that offers above par pop rock of the highest order. Having been my original way of discovering the band, I’ve discovered that both lyrically and musically, it’s one of the weaker songs here, but it’s still far beyond other bands first efforts. ‘Standing In Line’ and ‘Platinum ...

Advantages: Can listen to it over and over again Disadvantages: cant think of any
Rooster are a four piece band-Nick Atkinson (Singer), Luke Potashnick (Guitar), Ben Smyth (Bass and backing vocals) and Dave Neale (drums).
Rooster's first single was the incredibly catchy 'come get some', which has as huge rock/pop feel to it-especially the chorus, This song makes you feel like dancing-or as the song says 'shout it from the rooftops'. Its no surprise that this song was a hit for the boys.
With the follow up single, 'Staring at ... ...it certainly sums up what Rooster are all about-FUN. 'Platinum blind' has the huge chorus and guitar rifts which Rooster are becoming known for which helps make this a brilliant catchy song.
Another one of the best tracks on this album is 'Angels Calling'. A beautiful song which will have you thinking about anyone you have ever lost. Other tracks i highly recommend are 'Joyride'-a brilliant up tempo track which'll have you dancing. 'She don't Make ...

Advantages: Everything about htis album is amazing, Nice one Disadvantages: NONE
...didn’t really know much about rooster until I bought the album which was highly recommended to me. I think most people will be in my previous situation and wondering what they are all about so I'll just give you a few factoids about the band!!!
First let’s introduce the guys, We have Nick (24) on Vocals
Ben (19) playing bass/backing vocals
Luke (22) on guitar
David (19) on drums.
The band began back when Nick and Luke were at school together ... ...ask me! Amazingly the name rooster came from a horse one of the guys bet on and won 250 pounds!! Not long after nick got a call from a new record label asking what he was up to and soon Rooster where signed.
Their first release was come get some which reached no. 7 this song didn't really impress me much as I thought it had a bit of a busted feel and was a little doubtful if I would hear of them again, but if you listen to the album you will soon ...

...to kick the album off.
The following four tracks are all taken from 1992 release, 'Dirt' - 'Them Bones', 'Rooster', 'Angry Chair' and 'Would?', proving why Dirt was arguably their best album. The haunting, echoing vocals on the likes of Them Bones was a definitive style of the band. The echoing guitars of 'Rooster' are eerily beautiful, along with the thought-provking, dark lyrics on top of it - 'The bullet sccreeeaammss at me from somewhere'. And then there's the low, haunting bass riff of 'Would?'.....
'No Excuses' and 'I Stay Away' are from 1994's release 'Jar of Flies', an album I never brought, but was always told about in the highest regard. They are two more 'user-friendly' tracks, both relatively clean and melodic, the first track more so it has to be said - if that's more your style - bluesy, standard tuned guitars, rather...

Additional notes
Album Notes: Debut album from young London based band inspired by the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin, Cream, the Yardbirds and Free. With a manifesto to "bring back stadium rock", their polished, bluesy, melodic sound recalls early Reef, and the funky, elastic rhythms in some of their tracks have also seen them compared to the Chili Peppers. Includes the singles 'Come Get Some' and 'Staring At The Sun'.
