Advantages: An eclectic feast, blending varied musical influences into a satisfying whole. Disadvantages: McKennitt has suffered by being relegated to the fringe of musical interest in Britain.
...Mask and the Mirror' is a wonderful introduction to McKennitt's music and, along with 'The Book of Secrets' her most ambitious album, to date. Some tracks such as 'The Mystic's Dream', 'Marrakesh Night Market' and 'Full Circle' could have come directly from the Arabian Nights. Other tracks like chilling, 'The Two Trees' have literary sources, in this case a poem of the same title by W.B. Yeats. 'The Dark Night of the Soul' is rooted in the rich poetry of the Spanish mystic, St.John of the Cross. My favourite track on this album, 'The Bonny Swans' is more than seven minutes long and is basically a ghost story. McKennitt seems to have taste for such tales because we have another one, 'The Highwayman' appearing on her subsequent album, 'The Book of Secrets'.
Is Britain ready for McKennitt? Surely, the time has come. Move over you...

The Roots Review ofThings Fall Apart - Roots (The) (Rap)by
DJME
Advantages: Live Hip-hop at it's best Disadvantages: a few weak tunes
...This is a good album, although not The Roots' strongest effort to date (that honour lies with Illadelphalflife). Overall the album is quite strong with a few stand out tracks such as "You got me" (featuring Erykah badu) and "the next movement". It consistently delivers, and gives The Roots the chance to display why the are without doubt the best live hip-hop act around, and feature some other performers from their stable, such as the aforementioned Erykah Badu, D'angelo, Common and Mos Def. This album is definitely worth getting for "you got me" on it's own. It really is an unbelievable tune. Rahzel, the human beatbox, is also worth checking out! Overall a more than capable album, but not quite as good as it could be....

Advantages: Consistant greatness Disadvantages: If you don't like metal, don't buy this
...Brazilian band Sepultura have brought us this great album. 'Roots' All the tracks are very heavy. (great stuff) This album is what introduced me to Sepultura and I love every bit of it. Each song gives out an incredible energy. Sepultura are obviously very talented. Just listen to this to find that one out for yourself. The Lyrics are very strong and persistant. This adds to it's greatness. I love the songs 'Cut-Throat' and 'Roots Bloody Roots'. But all the songs on the album are amazing in their own way. Every Sepultura fan should own this. Any first time listeners should also give it a shot. Your ears will love you for it....
